  1. I would love to see Martin take the next step forward. The Twins don't really have a true leadoff hitter at the moment, He always has a high OBP and can steal some bases.
  2. If you have MLB Network, watch the documentary on Billy Martin. Brilliant baseball mind, but just couldn't control his personal demons.
  3. I remember when they were auctioning off pieces of the Metrodome. One of the blue hefty bags from right field was listed. I thought about bidding, but then it occurred to me.....what if I won? I guess I could have turned it into a privacy fence, but the HOA might have something to say about it.
  4. Good article, but I'm not as optimistic as some. The results just haven't been there. Management must see something they like. Maybe he can make the adjustments and turn it around.
  5. It's not just Strahm's contract. Moore/Fulmer/Chafin can see the $7 million Trevor May got from the A's and are thinking they should be able to get at least 2 years/ $20 million. I would like to see the Twins add someone. I don't think the bullpen is as deep as some might think. There will be injuries.
  6. If I recall, it originally started when baseball got dropped from the Olympics. However, it was in the last Olympics, although I think it will be dropped again in 2024. I'm not against the WBC in concept, but with all the money in MLB the stakes have gotten too high as it relates to potential injuries.
  7. I was mad about the Urshela trade at the time because I assumed Correa was gone and there was going to be too many questions on the left side of the infield. But with Correa back, it frees up Farmer to play 3B if Miranda falters. And Lewis or Lee might be ready later in the year. I don't see the Gallo signing as making sense in any scenario. I just don't know what the front office was thinking with that one.
  8. I never liked the dome dog. Nothing but grease. I prefer the original Twins Dog, but last time I was at Target Field they only had it at one or two stations.
  9. I was puzzled when the Marlins traded Gallen for Chisholm, and upset the Twins weren't in the conversation. He was a perfect fit for the Twins and they had the prospect capital to do it without it being too painful. Maybe the Marlins were targeting Chisholm.
  10. Count me as a big Arraez fan, but I would wait at least one more year before having this discussion. He still has three years of team control and his value will probably never be greater than it is today. While I don't necessarily expect he'll win the batting title every year, I would like to see him have another relatively injury free year and a high OBP. If he does that, I'm all in. He's only 25, so he may not have even hit his prime yet.
  11. Would the offseason have been a disaster without Correa? With or without Correa I don't think they're done making moves, so time will tell. I was disappointed they missed out on some SP opportunities in free-agency, but the need may be filled via trade. I still think they need one middle of the rotation SP and one decent reliever. Did we absolutely need a shortstop? We needed someone, whether it was Correa or a stop-gap to get us to Lewis/Lee/Martin. I would have been content with the latter, and so I wouldn't judge the offseason a disaster if Correa had gone elsewhere. I like Correa and I think he makes them better, but going forward I don't think he's going to be the elite player some expect him to be. I like $200 million over six years better than $285 million over ten, but that's still A LOT of money to tie up in one player. (Can you tell I'm a glass half-empty kind of person.)
  12. I wouldn't do that deal. When Ober pitches, he's been good. Yeah, if they bring in more starters there will be a glut, but keep in mind they will most likely be losing Gray, Mahle, and Maeda after this year. Ober is the kind of guy the Twins should be clinging to; a young controllable starter that has had success at the MLB level.
  13. I don't think they have a glut of infielders. Farmer is insurance if Miranda can't lock down 3rd and can also play SS if needed. I view Gordon more as an outfielder, but certainly he brings a lot of valuable versatility.
