Luis Arraez’s Value Goes Beyond Excellent On-Field Performance
Murph commented on Adam Friedman's blog entry in Adam Friedman
According to ABC Sports, the last time a BATTING CHAMPION was traded in the off-season was in 1978. That time, the TWINS traded Rod Carew to the Angels for 4 players - none of whom had substantial careers. Trading Arraez was a huge mistake. It's hard to believe Arraez's value (at 1B, 2B and at the plate) was not valued. The Twins have made one stupid decision after another. Trading for a pitcher who was 10/10 last year and 28/31 all-time was ridiculous. His ERA is almost 4. Any small amount of faith I had in "falvine" is now gone. -
Maybe the Twins should consider trading Polanco. Arraez plays a good 2nd base. Turns the DP as well as anyone. And he can play other places on the field (not sure he really should have been in the "top 10" at first base, but that's where he played, the most, in '22). We love Polanco, but his value is less than the value of Arraez.

Andrew Heaney is the Best the Twins Can Do
Murph replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Essentially, Andrew Heaney is another failed left handed pitcher. Perfect for the Twins. He fits right into their wheelhouse. (There's nothing new under the sun.)- 34 replies

Why Would the Twins Pay Anyone but Carlos Correa?
Murph replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think I have it in me to place my hopes in the Twins again becoming a Major League contender. They don't have the front office for it. They've proved it year after year after year... They will not do what it takes to give their team a fighting chance against the East and the West. Picking up cast-offs from other teams has proven to be folly, and the training ground in their minor league system is unremarkable. Correa and Buxton are team leaders - on the field and in the clubhouse. Losing Correa will be costly all the way around. For the remainder of the 2023 post-season: "Anybody but the NYY."- 87 replies

VIDEO: Jhoan Duran: Twins Daily's 2022 Rookie of the Year
Murph replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We met Duran, by chance, in the driveway of the home home he rented during the season. He is a very nice young man with a powerful arm and engaging smile. We HOPE the Twins can hang onto this rock-solid reliever. WHY he wasn't the "closer" is a mystery. (Maybe it's because we picked up a Lopez, who like most of the Twins' pick-ups, was "injured" or "past his prime.") -

Well - then the Pohlads shouldn't own a Major League Baseball team. (Believe me, the Pohlads can afford it.) Maybe we shouldn't have a major league franchise here.- 86 replies

Pohlad's "strategy" is to keep the team payroll at the league average. They want to be good enough to "compete" (put butts in the seats), but not be good enough to win championships. I'm sure this list is inconclusive: Trevor Megill, Juan Minaya, Devon Smeltzer, Danny Coulombe, Joe Smith, Chi Chi Gonzales, Jhon Romero, Ralph Garza Jr, Chris Archer, Yennier Cano, Jharel Cotton, Jovani Moran, Cole Sands, Tyler Thornberg, Austin Davis, Brad Peacock, Emilio Pagán.- 86 replies

VIDEO: Luis Arraez Should Have Bunted
Murph replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Rocco makes bad decisions in every game... The Twins don't bunt. (Do they even have a batting coach?) And he has "a bunch" of pitchers he sends to the mound for ONE inning, until he runs out of pitchers. And, as for the FO - why do we keep picking up cast-offs who, as often as not, aren't even healthy? Bring on 2023. 2022 is toast. -
This is It For Miguel Sano: What Now?

Do you feel good about this cruel comment? After you stick the knife in, turn it a few times... Interesting how some players get a "pass" and some just get crushed by comments such as yours.- 34 replies
