  1. Thanks for the updates. As a person who will probably never get to spring training, I appreciate the details and interviews.
  2. It's a holiday weekend and spring training is over a month away, so I'm guessing that you're just trolling us until there's a real signing or spring training games start.
  3. I don't agree with the plan currently being taken.
  4. "concerns it will reduce his lateral mobility as he ages. " Baseball Reference has Correa listed at 6'4, 220; he will likely lose lateral mobility even if he had not had the injury in 2014. Further, he likely will be moving to third in 5 years not matter what. There are not a ton of 33 year old major league shortstops. Also, I can't remember who reported it, but a few scouts believe he has a couple of 40 home run seasons in him. If that's the case, first base isn't a bad option. Finally, he played well in the games after the slide that shook him up a bit. It seems as if the original offer is still a risk worth taking.
  5. I hope Gallo reverts to the 3.5 WAR/year form that he had prior to New York/Los Angeles. I don't think it's prudent to bet $11 million on that happening. This organization doesn't seem to do great work on reclamation projects, Last year Sanchez was supposed to be a "he'll benefit from a change of scenery guy." He improved defensively, but his bat didn't.
  6. I hope that the Gallo era is as successful for the Twins and the Isiah Kiner-Falefa era was.
  7. I hope all recover quickly. Thank to Twins Daily for doing its best to keep site focused on baseball and as politics free as possible.
  8. MLB Trade rumors is reporting that the Royals signed Greinke and that the Tigers are interested in Pineda. Any bets on who fills the Happ and Shoemaker roles this season?
  9. This encapsulates the problem with trading Arraez.. Imagine Twins fans reaction to a hypothetical trade for someone like Berrios with the return being a singles hitter who may be a defensive liability and has bad knees.
  10. I hope they focus on starters, a shortstop, and relievers before even thinking about an outfielder. The Bundy signing is not focusing on starters.
  11. I have to agree. I understand the criteria you're using and I wouldn't have a problem with excluding Harmon if the title of the article were "Building the Best Budget WAR Twins Team" but any time the words "Twins All-Time Dream Team" are part of the title, Killebrew has to be on the team.
  12. Great interview. Enjoyed the behind the scenes of how does one get to be a beat writer.
  13. It seems as if every playoff team has an opponent or two they dominate. For example, Tampa Bay went 18-1 vs Baltimore Milwaukee went 15-4 vs the Cubs and 14-5 vs Pittsburgh Houston went 14-5 vs Texas The Dodgers went 16-3 vs Arizona and the Giants went 17-2 vs the Diamondbacks.
  14. Does anyone besides Buxton and his agent know if he wants to stay? I know there were some comments at the trade deadline, but those seemed to be basic PR boilerplate.
  15. I'm not saying Pineada is the answer to any questions or prayers, but with Maeda likely gone for the entire 2022 season, the returning starters without Pineada are Bailey Ober, Griffin Jax, John Gant??, Lewis Thorpe??, Randy Dobnak??, and Joe Ryan. I'm far from being a front office expert, but those names indicate a need for at least 3 free agent starters. Maybe I'm still scarred by Happ and Shoemaker, but I don't know if this front office can sign 3 free agent starters who are better than Pineada.
  16. I believe we should all reserve commenting on his coiffure until we hear Dan Gladden's hair commentary during the game.
  17. That was Silk Stalkings. . I think the protagonists called each other Sam after Sam Snead. Sorry that I can't make a baseball connection
  18. Baseball is always about hope and wishful thinking. I'm glad they kept Buxton, but he's played in about 40% of the games over the past few seasons, so it's also "wishful thinking" that he'll play 100 or 120 or 140 games next season. Donaldson is over 35 and susceptible to injuries as well, so one has to hope he can duplicate his production next year.
