I wish the twins were good's Achievements

  1. Misspoke - he was 16 when they signed him in 2016, but 19 by the time they traded him from Elizabethton. He was a bit young for his level then, but really nothing that jumps out at you from his time with the Twins. Looks like he put it all together with the Giants, and good on them for spotting him. Why they would give him up for a now injured and about to be 30 utility player that can't hit... Giants haven't had a great year transactionally.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/news/prelander-berroa-impresses-in-cactus-league-opener Anyone remember this guy? Twins gave him away in the Sam Dyson trade. He was only 19 in Elizabethton at the time, so still a ways away, but he'd look good in Ft. Myers right about now! Giants subsequently gave him away just recently for Donnie Walton, which is considerably less defensible...
  3. I think I remember Keith Law saying at one point that he somewhat arbitrarily set the cut off for "ace" as one of the top 15 pitchers in baseball. Not all teams have one, but if you assume the best teams have one (or more), that sounds about right. Gray isn't close to being in that group, but he could crack top 50 depending on what metric you're using. Fwiw, Fangraphs projects him at 64 by WAR this season, with Joe Ryan coming out the highest at 33, but I'd bet against them on that one if he stays reasonably healthy.
  4. If they had to lose megill or sands for a good lefty reliever I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it
  5. Chafin or Matt Moore sound better to me but I doubt they'll be willing to pay for either of those at this point (2 yrs ~15MM) I would guess.
  6. They either bought the networks needing an unrealistic amount of revenue to service the debt and/or remain profitable after licensing fees, or they are so unbelievably greedy and shortsighted they'd rather bankrupt the whole enterprise rather than negotiate fairly with the distributors, or some combination of both. Me thinks the people running this are not so smart... Good riddance
  7. HIPPA applies to medical professionals and other related entities. Employers - including sports teams - aren't covered under the law. Athletes consent to share their medicals with their employer/team when they sign their contracts, and the employer/team is free share that information with the media.
  8. Twins did really well (lucky) to get two prospects in Lee and Prielipp who had the talent to go higher - much higher in Prielipp's case - in the same draft. Has the potential to be an all-timer of a draft class if both realize their potential Possible all-star infielder and top rotation starter.
  9. This is giving me flashbacks of that pre-falvine revolving door of big hard throwing relievers that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Tyler Kinley comes to mind? I'm surprised any Twins fan at this point would be so confident
  10. Considering what Kepler will be paid, 8ish MM, he's going to be about dead even value wise, so won't be surprised if they don't get anything back for him. He's certainly a "change of scenery" type. Good luck, sir....er, auf wiedersehen or whatever. Now some other team can enjoy hearing the ballet backstory retold by literally every bored away announcer at least once a series any time they play anywhere else outside the AL Central.
  11. Agreed, based on what they traded for him, ain't nothing but a roster spot so whatever.
