  1. May is really the only arm I miss. Nobody is mourning the loss of Romo. Nobody. Did you see that guy last year? How so obviously cooked he was? Wisler might be a one shot wonder, infact, he sure looks like one now. Clippard...would've been nice to bring back, but he isn't exactly young either.
  2. Burn the extra inning rule to the ground. But Chief is right. The bullpen has not looked like a championship quality bullpen. Colome right now reminds me of Romo, and that isn’t a good thing. I mean I can’t blame Rogers, because that run he gave up was an unER. But what was with the 0-2 pitch? 86mph? Where was the clutch hitting? Sano? You couldn’t knock ONE guy in? You watched an easily hit table pitch go by and walked back to the dugout? I want to see Rocco hold his players accountable for shtick like that. Also in extras, you can’t knock the runner on 2nd in in THREE tries? I mean I’m not going to give up on Colome yet but I’m worried he may be cooked. Not worried about Rogers. Worried about this team’s ability to “get it done” when things NEED to be done.
  3. I don’t see why we can’t extend both Buxton and Berrios. Buxton probably ~20-25 Million and (at most) ~20ish Million for Berrios in the process. Could we raise payroll to ~160-170 Million?
  4. Watch him play. That’s why would should believe in him. If they trade him or let him walk, I won’t be happy. Trading him seems like something Cleveland would do. I don’t want to do that. That is how you end up with a long title drought. We probably should’ve extended him before the season NGL. Looks like his payday will be a lot more (~20-25 Million a year). Regardless, please extend him. He’s worth every penny
  5. We’ll need to continue to be hot like this for the next few weeks. It looks like it will be some time until we face a real opponent so we should pick up as many wins as we can.
  6. Exactly. It’s the offense’s fault they couldn’t do squat with runners at the corners and nobody out.
  7. The only thing that would is if it actually did just that.
  8. Tomorrow we will see what this offense is (inconsistency-wise). I’m not concerned about the ‘pen ultimately losing the game today. We obviously did not get it done with RISP today. That led to a pathetic offensive performance. And it’s not like Casey Mize or Fulmer or Soto are great pitchers or anything. Last year, we were inconsistent AF offensively, and there were stretches of 4 or 5 games where our offense would just be dead. This is one game. If we see a bad performance offensively once (one game) in a while that’s not a problem. That’s normal. I’m not concerned about the ‘pen losing the game. That was (once again) a product of the awful extra innings rule. Happ didn’t last long...that’s concerning, especially against Detroit. Look for the offense to bounce back tomorrow or not.
  9. Back to back blowouts. Offense lookin’ good. SP lookin’ good. Concerned about the injuries. Losing Arraez is a big hit to the lineup. The Twins clearly benefit from the guy being in the lineup and 100%. Buxton should hopefully be back tomorrow. Dobnak - I know it’s early, but he doesn’t even look like a pro-class pitcher from what we’ve seen from him these first two appearances. I’d say send him down and bring up maybe Balazovic?
  10. Blame the offense then. Or Rocco. Or the Defense for giving up FOUR unearned runs. Or Colome (an experienced Major Leaguer who has been one of the league’s best closers the past five years) for being a moron. If Colome isn’t a moron, or if the defense doesn’t repeatedly self-destruct throughout the game we don’t play that 10th Inning.
  11. Sadly, the Vikings are an ~.500 team too (with where the roster is now, it could of course change)
  12. To be fair, Burnes' pitches were perfectly executed and on the money almost every time.
  13. Why do you say this? Because of the lack of offense? 96 mph cutters will shut down any offense.
  14. Why on earth would Rocco yank Berrios? Let the man get his first career no-hitter! In any case, glad to see the pitching and defense holding strong today. Am a little worried about Colome, he looked shaky. On the flip side, what's with the offense? Yes, Burnes absolutely balled out today but not getting a single hit thru 6? In all seriousness, I don't like what I'm seeing from Sano. If he doesn't clean up his act he should be sent down. Also, are both of our catchers going to be offensive liabilities this year?
  15. The defense is bad because it looked rough on opening day? Oh please. Also, “the bullpen” didn’t blow the lead. Colome did. More of it had to do with his decision making than his pitching. If he makes that simple throw to first, and if Kepler makes that catch (the one where the ball was literally in his glove), we win 5-2. Also, Dobnak wasn’t the problem in the 10th. It was the horrendous extra-innings rule. We weren’t in a position to realistically win the game after the 9th in a National League Park. Point being: We mustn’t jump to conclusions after one game.
  16. The bases were loaded in the 5th because the four-time gold glover couldn’t make the routine-ist of plays. That Duffey run was unearned. Colome was out there in the 9th and needed to nail down a 3 run lead. He’s been one of baseball’s best relievers the past five years. He will have a bad day from time to time - his first (of hopefully not many) happened on OD. Relievers are supposed to execute, and it’s not on management if they don’t. This isn’t like putting clearly washed up Sergio Romo on in the 9th, where in that case it’s on management. Colome is actually a quality reliever. If he becomes like Romo and the Twins continue to use him in the 9th, that is bad management. But for now, we can only blame Colome. Also, this might be a nitpick, but the Buxton homer logic makes no sense. “If he didn’t hit it...” he did though. That’s what matters.
  17. I corrected myself if you scroll up in the thread. The offense was far worse than the management. However, I feel like the lack of offense had to do with Rocco, in a “lack-of-fire” emotion type of thing. Sorry I wasn’t clear.
  18. “They can win 103 games, which would be meaningless. All that matters is October.“ That’s what I was thinking. Why should we care if we enter the playoffs as a division winner or a wild card, as long as we make it in? Records become 0-0 in the playoffs. Wild Card teams have won the World Series. Back in 2016, a wild card team SWEPT the top seed. We’d be underdogs in our first series even as a top seed so why do we care about what seed we get?
