  1. Our Minnesota Twins came into the series against the Houston Astros red hot, winning 14 of their last 17 games. However, they were thoroughly dominated in three games, being outscored 21-3 in those three games. Is it just that this team has a lot of injuries right now? Or do they not stack up well against good teams? What do you take away from this series?

  3. Big-ticket-FA-signing-from-this-past-offseason SS Carlos Correa is expected to return sometime in the next week (rotowire says 5/16). When Correa went out, the Twins called up 2017 1st Round Pick Royce Lewis to play the position. Defensively, Lewis has looked like a natural at SS but has struggled at the plate with a .538 OPS (yuck). What should the Twins do with Lewis when Correa returns?
  4. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Goes to show that sample size matters when analyzing data.
  5. Yeah, you’re right. I’ve never seen a team collapse this early this quickly.
  6. Interesting. You usually don’t see trades happen this early.
  7. So far, Coulombe looks like he can be good all year:
  8. Okay, Chicago. There’s no way you can **** this one up. You have an 8-2 lead in the 9th Inning against your division rival. To make things even better, you’re facing the 7-8-9 hitters. This should be a piece of cake. https://www.mlb.com/video/tanner-banks-in-play-run-s-to-andres-gimenez?q=TeamId %3D%3D [114] Order By Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 https://www.mlb.com/video/tanner-banks-in-play-run-s-to-austin-hedges?q=TeamId %3D%3D [114] Order By Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 https://www.mlb.com/video/liam-hendriks-in-play-run-s-to-josh-naylor?q=TeamId %3D%3D [114] Order By Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 https://www.mlb.com/video/nick-sandlin-in-play-out-s-to-adam-engel-vs42wz?q=TeamId %3D%3D [114] Order By Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 https://www.mlb.com/video/ryan-burr-in-play-run-s-to-josh-naylor?q=TeamId %3D%3D [114] Order By Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 …or you can do that. That works too.
  9. Cleveland’s strength so far, surprisingly, has been their offense. Their pitching staff has been awful.
  10. Maybe, but it doesn’t hurt to speculate a bit about what we’ll see from this team in the next two months, based on what has happened in the first 30 games. Agree that the Astros series and later the Yankees series will be tests for this team to see how they stack up against legitimate contenders.
  11. Our beloved Minnesota Twins start the 2022 MLB Season 18-11. They’re 14-3 for their last 17. If this team is looking to go the playoffs come July 31st, they’re going to want to add more. Opinions of what this team still needs to win may vary from person to person. IMO, the biggest need for the Twins at the trade deadline is back-of-the-bullpen help. The Twins traded closer Taylor Rogers before Opening Day. Unfortunately, the return thus far (Chris Paddack) has been highly mediocre thus far. While the bullpen as a whole has been solid thus far, the hole that Rogers filled is noticeable. IMO, this team should look to add a back-of-the-bullpen stud. They could also use one or two more lower-leverage arms.
  12. The Twins’ starting rotation, which was very poor last year, has been rock solid in the first 29 games this year. This is their current rotation: 1. Joe Ryan 2. Sonny Gray 3. Chris Paddack 4. Chris Archer 5. Dylan Bundy/Josh Winder/Bailey Ober 2022 is the year of the long expected pitching pipeline. Some more prospects may come up and take rotation spots and some of the pitchers listed above will move to bullpen roles. What do you think this rotation will look like in 2025? Here’s mine: 1. Joe Ryan 2. Jordan Balazovic 3. Josh Winder 4. Simeon Woods Richardson 5. Bailey Ober
  13. Not really. Excluding his rookie season his Whiff% has never been better than 50th Percentile
  14. They also did a lot of good stuff in the last few years, such as the Cruz and Berrios trades, the Buxton signing, and the Correa signing. But yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if a sub-.500 team makes the playoffs in the AL this year.
