  1. No known images of shortstop carrying the Twins. Artist's concept sketch shown below... http://ultimateclassicrock.com/files/2011/11/ZepIV2.jpg?w=600&h=0&zc=1&s=0&a=t&q=89
  2. The magic of Bark. It starts out as a seemingly harmless post about Forrest Gump, and turns into a lost episode of 'Breaking Bad'...
  3. I've got that beat. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/hsKZqRm8mgg/maxresdefault.jpg Early Saturday morning, FIRST day of summer vacation after third grade, woke up to watch cartoons. Bothered by a mosquito bite but didn't think much of it. Went upstairs for breakfast. Both parents made 'The Face', the one where you know something is wrong. Got to start my summer sitting inside with chicken pox and wanting to peel my skin off..
  4. Sort of like the 'off' position on the faucet on box wine. 'Warm fuzzy' and 'good and sloshed' should be the only settings once the seal is broken.
  5. It's an outrage that the Royals don't have one of these to help Chamberlain make the long, arduous voyage from the bullpen to the mound... http://image.motortrend.com/f/59386399/Star-Wars-Sail-Barge-front-three-quarter.jpg
  6. Thanks to this enjoyable game thread, I am a thoroughly gruntled TD poster
  7. My parents' chihuahua has to be dried with a towel to keep it from evaporating...
  8. Yes. Let's hope there aren't any more. Oh. You probably meant outs, not baserunners.
  9. I guess it's hard to fault the kid for not sliding when he's in the dugout before the ball gets to the catcher...
  10. It's great to hear that Buxton has been working on his bunting this week. But I hope that news has no more effect on how the Twins use him than the news that he's been working on his dentistry.
  11. We're reaching the point where taking the lead in the eighth and not seeing him bat again would be the consolation prize for another Sano-biwan AB
  12. Yes, Dick, the umpire's strike zone was "erratic", in much the same way that the manners of Charles Manson were erratic.
  13. 28 pitches for Jep. It's like a whole extra game's worth of excitement...
  14. Sometimes the apple desert can be salvaged by going heavy a la mode on it. If done just right it with just a hint of cinnamon, it does a fair impression of apple crisp/pie. Some frozen dinner purists consider that to be cheating, but you're going to have a tough time selling that to someone whose fruits and vegetables supplement to dinners that are light on them is the plums that make up the delightful Eastern European brandy, slivovitz.
  15. Does just fine on its own...http://cbsnews2.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2013/07/10/cebc23e7-1c4d-11e3-9918-005056850598/resize/620x465/638522cdb3724dd4d1a27383a9d78835/006_QUAID_THEN.jpg
  16. Smalley's half-hearted explanation of how May's exile to the bullpen could make him a better starter next year drew the same response from me that Pat Morita's goofy sayings earned from Nicolas Cage in Honeymoon in Vegas: "That.... really does me no good at all, but thanks". http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-IFkrv2LdEQ/hqdefault.jpg
  17. Microwave instant potatoes are a great way to answer the question "What would it be like to be napping in Hawaii, snoring with mouth wide open, and simultaneously have a tourist's shave ice and a big glob of Kilauea lava land on my tongue?"
  18. GomeGome''s type of wacky hair-on-fire persona plays better in the early twenties than the late 20's, like the kind of $#!^ you used to get away with in college that totally doesn't fly a couple of years later. Or like Bill James said of Roberto Alomar at around his age 25 or so season. I'm paraphrasing, but it's close: 'People still dismiss Alomar's mental mistakes as a product of his youth, but they forget that he's already had five full seasons in the majors. By now the common sense aspects of baserunning, for instance, should be second nature to Alomar, and yet there he is, twice a week, wandering the basepaths like a squirrel on a highway.'
  19. Try to detect it. It's not too late. To snippet. Snippet good.
  20. Not a bad defender either, at least on that double play off of Buxton's miniature science project diorama of the life cycle of a pop fly.
  21. That's my season quota for bunts, bad or otherwise. Looks like it's gonna be a long September.
