  1. Indians might be within a few games of us by the ASG with the ease of their schedule and the way we have played lately. I doubt they would trade with us
  2. Whatever version we get he’s better than Kyle Gibson, Michael Pineda, Martin Perez, Devin Smeltzer, and he’s more accomplished/experienced against good hitting than Jose Berrios & Odorrizi. We desperately need him or an equivalent. No more excuses about age, mileage, etc. do you want to roll into the playoffs with Perez or Nibbles as one of your starters? Eff no.
  3. What plate discipline? I love Miguel’s potential and power but he’s absolutely brutal and I’m convinced he’ll never be worth anything against above average pitching. Package him in a trade.
  4. The days of Terry Ryan created a lot of people who believed every prospect was a sacred gem even though the Twins minor league development/conditioning was not great for many (pitchers especially). Hopefully most of them have come around or at least switched sports.
  5. Yeah. Every indicator told me T Ryan was a GM that built his team to win the central and beyond that he left it up to luck and chance. His goal was always competitive, not dominant.
  6. Yeah but no reason to think that everyone is going to develop into a Berrios or a Polanco. I feel like if you’re on a potential championship team you take the trade off of giving up a player that may become a star if it nets you a World Series title. You can try to give up less but front offices aren’t dumb. Sometimes you have to “overpay”, and it’s not really overpaying it’s market value at the time of the trade.
  7. Overvaluing prospects is a crutch that hindered T Ryan when his team became competitive. I’m glad it seems the new regime is different.
  8. Hahaha. Crain Wreck was a great nickname. You’re right the bullpen does get that NFL kicker treatment from fans but we just remember bullpen failures past in the playoffs and would love to avoid that.
  9. it’s a good thing he’s high velocity cuz he misses his location really badly on a lot of pitches. That popout by Seager to end the game was supposed to be outside & he put it middle-in happy zone.
  10. I’m going to the game tonight. Hopefully get a chance for a few HR balls. I know Cruz hits him well anyway.
  11. Yeah... i don’t think that’s accurate. I’ll still take my chances with Sano it only to get him more experience in those situations. I don’t know if Adrianza will even be on the team in a year.
  12. Sano knows he can a mistake ball 500 ft so he will cheat a bit for that potential huge sportscenter highlight reel homer... especially earlier in his career. I believe he’s smarter in 2019 but I don’t know if he’s prepared to go all the way and take the temporary drop in power numbers to become ok against nasty pitching
  13. High leverage situational hitting will ultimately make or break opinion on Sano. His production when healthy is worth the Ks. But if it’s “hollow numbers” and poor in the playoffs, people will sour more.
  14. Because it’s Twins type move. I think people want a proven Ace like Mad Bum or Scherzer, both have better WHIP & K rate. Mad Bum is only a year older than Stroman. They are the sexy move that the Twins never make. It’s like hoping to win the Powerball in this sports town with this franchise but we can still hope.
  15. I think we all better hope that the Nats fall off and hard. I really want Scherzer
  16. I’d like to see moves made before July 1st adding to what other posters have said. There’s enough teams that know they’re out of it early to acquire good arms without too much headache.
  17. Take Giles, Hand and Green and print those WS tickets lol. Don’t care too much about trading within the division. Or if you do then get Smith instead of Hand. I don’t see Detroit being relevant for a while even with some of our good prospects.
  18. Doesn’t make sense to me to not give him 3 years if you’re already offering him two. I mean sure that one extra year could be an albatross but again, you’re already offering two... and you’re playing for October. This season. 2019. I’m not blaming the FO for this one though.
  19. I don’t think you can equate signing Perez, Schoop, or Cruz in the off season to having a double digit lead in the division in early June, being very near an expected lock for the postseason and signing someone you need to improve by far the weakest aspect of your team. It’s OK if the FO (who I respect and have high levels of faith in) saw that Kimbrel was not going to cut it... but it is not OK to me if they liked him and couldn’t throw enough at him. Not in this season. And yeah it’s not my money. I’m just a fan.
  20. And also how do we know the twins had less money to offer? I kept hearing from all these sources who popped out of the woodwork that Jim was “open to increasing payroll”. If they know that do they know by how much? A million? 5 million? 20? When people use that line of nebulous language in defense of an ownership who had shown no reason hit anyone to think they’re going to deviate from old habits it just makes me wonder how many people actually believe that zero accountability mantra?
  21. If this season is squandered like the 00s teams they’re going to need a lot more of those 5$ ticket nights
