  1. Players play the game so they are the most responsible if we win or lose. These are professionals whose only job is to win games. With that said - I think we put too much faith in the fact that our bats would come back after a poor 2020, and we also put too much faith that we could yet again turn below average relievers into good relievers. Still not too late, but need to turn it around starting asap.
  2. Disappointed to hear Gordon is still pretty much what we've learned him to be. Maybe someone like the Tigers will give us ANYTHING for him?
  3. Lets give Colome some lower leverage innings to perhaps build back up his confidence? Robles has closing experience - let him try a few right handed closing opportunities for a bit - can't do worse.
  4. Berrios had a lot of movement on his pitches today - keep that up and hes going to be even more of a must sign for us in a couple years
  5. I love the idea of flexibility. The only position I'm not confident in the plan is for 3rd. If Donaldson has a long term injury, would they move Sano there for possibly the rest of the year? Or would they have a permanent platoon of the others in that spot? Or is there anyone in the minors who could simply come up and man the position for 100+ games that wouldn't diminish our depth for other positions?
  6. He's fine as a 4th outfielder, but when you have a backlog of talent behind him - its time to try and trade him and see what you can get. If he were a switch hitter or even right handed - it may change things, but alas here we are.
  7. He's going to get plenty of starts this year - sadly there is no way our current starting 5 will all last all year long without missing any starts. That is why we need a strong #6 - and he's looking very much like the guy for that role. Great position to be in that has no pressure to start off the year, but when called upon can take that role and never let go if we performs well.
  8. Here's a secret I have to share - I never minded the Dome - its not outdoor baseball, but it didn't exactly keep me from going to games since I love baseball. Obviously everyone is different.
  9. Start him in St. Paul. Between the union approved incentive for messing with his service time, plus being off to a slow start - fair or not, its a good long term business decision to let him get hot playing for the Saints instead of "playing thru it" as a Twin.
  10. Baseball songs are fun - my favorite has always been about playing right field: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXVnb0wveRg
  11. I'd take Price should the Dodgers be willing to pick up most of his salary - why not?
  12. I wish we signed him 10 years ago, but depending on what happens with how much the Twins want to spend, is his production really going to be that much better than what we may get our of our rookies in a DH role? How much money spent per RBI, HR, etc. Won't know until this time next year.
  13. I really believe this is the year we are going to see all those prospects be brought up to the majors - ready or not. Fortunately we have the horses to fill many of our spots. Our minor league depth will be depleted, but they are cheaper options in a likely tough financial year who happen to be pretty talented. Goodbye Cruz, Rosario, Adrianza, Odorizzi - Hello rookies.
  14. One family per section would be nice to see, start with that. Here you go - you have section 106!
  15. Doesn't personal accountability play a role here? The Twins have something that could be special for this year. Didn't Rocco, and then Nelson stand up before the season started to share with the players that they need to make sure they are keeping themselves safe? If not - they should have. This virus is out there, and for the greater good of the team - players need to stay home, and keep themselves isolated. When playing - give up the high fives and such for a year. Wear the masks - sure they suck, but it all starts with one, just ONE player being exposed to it to negatively impact the entire team if they were to pass it on. They also should hold each other accountable, I hope they are doing just that.
  16. Let them play with no fans, only able to be watched on TV - the owners don't really even need to sell tickets to make money with all the TV revenue available to them.
  17. Lets be real - he IS being underpaid right now by #1 starting pitcher standards. That doesn't mean the Twins are necessarily doing anything wrong - thats how the system works! However - I'd be curious what sort of offers we have made to him for a long term contract - something that would buy out his first 2 years of free agency. He's worthy of a deal - even if he continues his second half fades, he should be in the $8-$10 M range at a minimum. I'd rather overpay a bit now, to have a good value in years 3-5 of the deal.
  18. Haven't heard much from Spring Training about us trying the "opener" pitching role. With the manager's first hand experience with it - do you think we'll try it at all from the beginning of the season - or just wait until the standard rotation potentially doesn't work out so well for us?
  19. Tell us more about Michael Pineda - I know we signed and let him sit an entire year - is he a potential difference maker that will get us 20 wins in 2019?
