  1. Gonsalves' numbers in the minors were impressive except for the BB/9, and I was very optimistic when he was called up to the Twins. And then I watched him pitch. I was disappointed that he topped out at like 90/91 mph, and then you combine that with less than average control and you get the makings of a Southpaws can get away with a little less than right-handers, but if you only throw 90 then you have to be able to hit your spots consistently and Stephen does not. I hope, O I hope he can find a way to control his stuff but I believe Mejia has the better chance to be a fixture in the rotation.
  2. I agree with Thorpe in Gonsalves spot as well or in Meija's. Either way our list is deep and I'm excited about our the top. Both are arms and position players.
  3. Like many others, I wasn't thrilled about signing Cruz before this week. The more I have thought about it the more I liken it to when they signed Jim Thome. Only Cruz seems to have a little more left in the tank and as outlined by Parker that he is a professional hitter who adjusts. Cruz can have an impact on the Latin players and lead the team on the field by example and in the dugout. I hope the Twins make one, possibly two moves in adding to the bullpen. No starters or other bats. Let the youngsters fill those roles and see what you have.
  4. I couldn't disagree more. Odorizzi averages just over 5 innings a start for his career which puts a tremendous strain on the bullpen. I would rather have Gibson ,who had a revelation on how to trust his stuff and rely upon his defense instead trying to be perfect. I know Gibson is older but he is a lot more capable of shutting a lineup down especially in a playoff game.
