One Twins Power Prospect Still Waiting to Breakout
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Actually if you pro rate his per game strikeout numbers in college (.87) over 150 games that would equate to 130 K's. With minor league pitching being better than college pitching from an overall perspective, I think it was completely reasonably to expect 150 K's+ at any level above college and I think many here expected lots of whiffs. -
What Can Nick Gordon Do for an Encore?
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have a fair amount of confidence in Nick G. Dude was one of the better players on the team for much of the second half and didn't suck at any point when he got consistent playing time. Sure, he can't hit lefties but he's improved a great deal over the last few years. -
Julien doesn't profile as anywhere near the hitter Arraez is, so I don't see that being much of a comparison. Their OBP should be pretty similar though!

I'm with you there, I don't think that Lewis is quite up there with Buxton, especially coming back from the ACL tear.- 16 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Speed Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Byron's speed and acceleration are at/near the top of the scale in the majors, so I don't really think that these guys would rank up there with him, myself.- 16 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Hit Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes, I've likely seen Eddie play just as many games as you have and understand his deficiencies as a hitter. I do agree with on one thing though - You're definitely entitled to you own opinion.- 11 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Hit Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Eddie Rosario definitely did not have/does not have a 70 hit tool. I would venture to say that the highest he was rated in hit tool was 60, by any respectable publication.- 11 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Hit Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
70-80 ratings are reserved for prospects with an ELITE tool. One season of hitting .340 when you've consistently hit around .270 doesn't deserve an elite hit tool rating. Think Mark McGuire power, or Aroldis Chapman velocity. ELITE.- 11 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Power Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd be curious to know - Assuming that both of these hypothetical hitters have the same defensive performance, what if your .280 hitter has an OBP of .325, while the .220 hitter has an OBP of .360 - would you still prefer the .280 hitter?- 13 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Power Tool Prospects
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I really just disagree with Cavaco making this list in general, and the fact that Royce's future power potential (70) is rated as higher than Sabato's (60) is way off in my opinion.- 13 replies

Travis Lee was in the organization for a grand total of about 2 weeks. I kinda doubt that he made it into any prospect lists during that time.

Looking Back at Minnesota's One Hit Wonders
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I initially thought this article may be about former Twins that had 1 solid season with the club, then never repeated those numbers. A few names came to mind immediately, such as Lew Ford, Danny Valencia, Brian Buscher and Scott Diamond. If TD hasn't done a piece on this yet, please do!!- 7 replies

Looking Back at Minnesota's One Hit Wonders
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Colina's now in the Rangers org, so unless he ends up on waivers and we claim him, he's going to end his Twins career with that sparkling 81.00 ERA.- 7 replies

Hate to be the guy to say it, but he was an international free agent signing, rather than a draftee. Have a good day. -
One Final Remnant of the Johan Santana Trade
Devilsadvocate replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My favorite Deolis Guerra memory: I used to play Derek Jeter All Star Baseball 2003 for PlayStation 2, I played all 162 games of each season to the 2008 off season and always wanted my rosters to be accurate, so I traded Santana to the Mets for 4 no-name prospects and spent the time editing their names, height, weight, ratings, etc. Obviously I edited Guerra to have 90+ potential, and he was the anchor of my rotation for another few seasons until I finally switched to MVP Baseball because the graphics were SO much better. Dude was always around 230+ innings with an ERA in the mid 2's for my teams. Really wished that could have come to fruition for our Twins!! -
Fantastic point here about Wagner never facing DHs outside of interleague play. That really says a lot imo.

I actually disagree that Wallner makes "enough" contact. Unless he improves bat to ball contact consistently, I'm afraid he won't make it past AAA...
