  1. No talk of marwin Gonzalez? This is the type of guy that we need. A solid bat who can play almost every position at an ML caliber of play. And switch hits. Our FO talks of being ready to strike when the oppurtunity comes. Should we just expect that oppurtunity to fall out of the sky? How about you put yourself in a better position for it to happen in the first place. A Gonzalez puts us in a far better position than Austin ever can.
  2. For those who want change, say good bye to the Disabled List. It will now be referred to as the Injured List. According to Jeff Passan.
  3. Problem is that not so long ago Gonsalves was thought of as a for sure #3 and possibly a #2. Now he's no more than a AAAA? We so quickly discard one prospect for another and the result is we continue to "hope" that our time to arrive is 2-3 more years down the line. Gonsalves was highly touted by the org and if he becomes just another forgot about prospect we need to know why.
  4. 3/45 for Kimbrell? That's not a deal, that's a steal. Do it. Give him an extra mil or two in 2019 and let him opt out after the season. We have the money for 2019, not to mention about 70mil coming off the books after this season. If this team won't spend the money on a Kimbrell now then it never will.
  5. One problem I have with Wade is he did not really prove himself at AAA Rochester. His performance was quite Gordonesque tbh. A problem I have with Cave were the K's. 102 in his 309 PA's is very high. OBP was nothing to write home about either. Granite also with an awful 2018 in AAA. Michael Reed has done little to show that he can be depended on in ML either. I would love to see Astudillo on the roster, I personally favor him over Austin, but I believe his having an option remaining will be his downfall. Please FO Keep Willians. His desire for the game and his personality are things that can't be measured by the analytics. But he has shown he has the talent to compete at the ML level.
  6. I would think Austin will not be the primary backup OF. He does have extensive experience in RF in the minors for NYY. In view of that I expect him to make the team as the 1B against lefties and as an emergency/fill in OF.
  7. The Vikings do own 1 NFL Championship:) Hope that makes us feel better too.
  8. I honestly don't think there is a contest in regard to the 4th OF at all. It is Cave. The only contest that I see in regard to the position players, barring any injuries, is whether we carry 12 players or 13. If we carry 13 then that last one will be Austin. If we carry 13 pitchers, and I for one hope not, then Austin is cut. I think the biggest place of competition is those last couple of spots in the Pen.
  9. I heard those same reports/rumors also. Based on what Pittsburgh got from Houston I tend to believe that the reports were pretty credible.
  10. Thanks guys. I was thinking the same that it is just a Rochester depth move, and maybe just another catcher for ST as he also received an invite in his deal.
  11. Twins have signed C/1B Wilin Rosario. He's been in Japan for a couple seasons. He formerly posted some nice numbers in Colorado. What does anyone know or remember about his game?
  12. Point is its getting about time to stop looking at ourselves as sellers every year. As far as what it takes to snag a player like Arenado in July I'm not so sure the price is as high as you think. This season the LAD got an expiring Machado for 1 top 100 prospect and 4 wild cards. Hats off to the LAD, they used their farm for what its intended for.
  13. Not me. For once in my lifetime I'd like my team, the Twins, to be buyers at the trade deadline because we are shooting for a higher goal than dumping vets to add prospects. This mid-July I'd like to see us trade for Arenado for instance, headlined by Graterol and Rooker and whoever else it takes. Then see us immediately sign Nolan to a 7/245 mil deal. And in late Oct be celebrating the WS due in large part to this deal. Isn't that a big reason for having a farm?
  14. May 22, 2018. I believe this is going to be remembered in the end as when Nick Gordon turned his career around. Everything that I have heard from Nick suggests that he now knows the hard work he will need to put in to fulfill the hype.
  15. Yes. I like Gonsalves and Gordon. I think very highly of Rortvedt and Severino. But I'm sick of this organizational philosophy of sitting on these prospects until their fire has been completely snuffed out. What's worse to me is year after year we are told how good our prospects are. Yet year after year we are signing so-so FA's to play at Target. This OD could see as many as 8 first year FA's suiting up again. I'm tired of being sold the hope of our farm system and it not being utilized. End of rant. Thanks all for the rankings. It's great reads.
  16. Littell is the one guy imo who isn't in the top20. That's not to say that he is disregarded as a prospect but that others have passed him by in intrigue and potential.
  17. Right now the replacement for Pressley would be Blake Parker. Parker is not even close to the pitcher that Pressley is. Again, no excuse for not having taken advantage of this seasons RP market. Parker would have been a fine 3rd piece to add, but not our top add up until now.
  18. We don't add good players because we don't know if we are going to be good or not. If we find the answer to that question is we actually were good then we don't add because the price that the other team wants is too high. Or we don't know if that player will make us that much better. We are only given excuse after excuse for reasons why not to get better. The sad part is many fans are willing to accept those excuses as valid and not hold the org accountable and give it a free pass time after time.
  19. I'm honestly OK when a team cashes in on a player like they did with Pressley. But bringing us to the present, that's why we should have been players in the huge RP FA market that this off season saw. The players were very much available to replace Pressley, but they didn't. That is a shame.
  20. It will be fun to see where both end up after a year in our system. I am as hard as anyone on Falvine but I'm stoked about this trade. You have to give up quality to get quality.
  21. From a 2018 standpoint Perez was one of the absolute worst pitchers available. The same can be said from a career perspective. It hampers our team when with a bit more cash, or in some cases less even, we could have gotten someone better. As for our pitching prospects, we might as well cut them loose since they don't seem to warrant a chance that they are better than one of the very worst in baseball.
  22. Yes to offering Gibson that, I'd even up it a couple of mil and have a 4th year option of some sort. Either a buyout or one that vests with starts or IP's.
