  1. If Donaldson became our full time DH (we'd be paying him a pretty penny to DH) because we lose Cruz and Donaldson can't stay healthy at third, I guess my question might be, can he stay healthy at DH .. Do they have calf muscles implants. LOL .. Maybe they can use one from a real calf ..
  2. As GNess said. Polanco is ideally suited for the super utility role. That would leave short stop to either Gordon or Lewis. But not right away. Start the season with Polanco at SS and Gordon in in the utility role so that Gordon can display what he has. (I mean, after all these years if Gordon can't at least be a good utility guy how will he ever be a position player). Mid season bring up Lewis and add to the mix. Their play will determine their roles but one thing is for sure. The utility player better play a good third base because he could play extended time at a moments notice
  3. I always liked Gonsalves. His problem was lack of velocity on his fastball. If in fact he can throw 94-95 mph now I find him an intriguing target ..
  4. Please not the AL Central. I don't want to listen to the broadcasters discussing it every time we play against him.
  5. I believe the leverage is on the Twins side. Don't think other teams will overpay for a one trick pony. Good chance Whistler will resign after testing the market. That said, I was thrown by this decision as well.
  6. Exactly! I've invested the last four years following these prospects in the minors and will feel robbed if I don't get to see them play for the Twins.I don't like the idea of trading them away. The Twins have given me 2 world Series and it would be nice to bag another one or two before I go, but I've get tremendous satisfaction watching our minor leaguers develop into stars. Besides, as you said, if the deal does not pan out it will set us back years. And then there is the fact we are a mid market team. We can't afford to go out and spend big like the Yankees. Developing stars that are low budget and under team control is the only way we can afford to put a good product on the field.
  7. Twins blew their wad on Donaldson preventing them from going after Bauer. Too bad ..
  8. As much as I fret over having good players available to the rule 5 draft, it speaks wonders to how strong our minor league system is.
  9. I think trading Buxton is a fair question to ask: * If he wasn't so injury prone I would say no * Can we afford to sign him three years from now? If the answer is no then trading makes sense. If you trade him now, you might not get what you want because of his injury history. If you keep him one more year and he plays 140 games and his power production stays the same as last year or goes up you could get a boatload. But if he only plays 90 games his value will plummet. I also fair to discuss trading Rosario and Sano .. I have no problem with you not listing trade options in this article.
  10. Guess there isn't anything news worthy out Just Joking ...
  11. With so much uncertainty about 2021 season from both the virus and the union I would use next year to bring up all the minor leaguers I could to find out who can play and who can't with the aim of filling any gaps for the 2022 season with money saved from the 2021 season. If you get lucky you might be able to pick up a bargain deal just before the 2021 season. NO way I would sign anyone until just before training camp. Watching all our promising players next year regardless of our record would be very entertaining and we watch baseball for it's entertainment value. It would be like watching Herbek, Gaettie and the crew when they came up to the majors many years ago ..
  12. Time for a youth movement. You can't underestimate the value of their low salary's. I'm fine with disposing of: Gonzalez, Rosie, Sano, Cave, Odorizzi, Romo .. As much as Cruz means to us if he insists on a two year deal I'm fine with replacing him with Rooker. I would trade Donaldson in a heartbeat if we could find a taker but I doubt anyone would. Vikings are going to have to tear down and rebuild. Will take 3 years. Twins can rebuild in 1 year. I'm ready to do that ..
  13. I think this article is littell about nothing. We should be talking about how they never gave Nick Anderson a bonafide shot in the majors with such a stellar minor league career. Not sure why anyone would trade for Littell when they wouldn't take him off waivers and as for Jake Reed, why is he even still here ..
  14. I agree with Top Gunn's assessment and that he added Rosario to the mix. It's more about not being able to afford Rosario in the future so might as well work that out now. Sano and Rosario are very stubborn, undisciplined players. I get irritated every time they do something stupid, particularly plate discipline. The signing of Donaldson has put a hamper on spending for quite a few years. he's beginning to look like damaged goods. I would trade him in a heartbeat but I doubt there would be any takers.
  15. We should have the best hitting catcher tandem in the league next year. Jeffers displayed raw power in his years in the minors so I expect him to hit a decent amount of HR's next year. Garver has been to consistent at the plate throughout his career not to think his bat won't return although I think 2019 was probably an anomaly in regards to home runs. Should be an exciting rookie of the year contest next year with all the talent coming up. A few have the potential to put in a bid for American League Rookie of the Year, not just the Twin ROTY.
  16. It takes mental discipline to succeed in the playoffs which Rosario and Sano do not have. Donaldson's salary along with low revenues in baseball suggest the Twins will not be able to afford them going forward anyway. Bring up the young guys, Jeffers, Krilloff, Lewis, Larnach and Rooker. This will solve the salary issues. Just put them on the team and trim accordingly. I'm fine with not signing Gonzalez, trading Rosario, Sano and possibly even Buxton if we can get a kings ransom for someone that could be an MVP if he could stay healthy. I believe Donaldson signing might go down as one of our worst signings ever if his chronic calf injury's get worse. Even if they don't I'm not sure he can give us the performance we need based on his aging. Need the young guys in there to push the veterans.
  17. I thought this article was going to be about which 2 catchers make the playoff roster.
  18. Rosario definity has his strengths but I do not enjoy his game. Whether throwing to the wrong base, lack of discipline at the plate or not taking directions on the base paths. It's just bad baseball. I wouldn't want my grandkid to watch his game and then go play little league. You can call it bad decisions but I call it lack of discipline but most of all, selfishness. Everything is about what's in it for Eddie. With Krilloff, Laurnich, Lewis and Rooker knocking at the door I say, let them in and show Eddie the way out .. Sorry, I have had enough ..
  19. Duffey looks the most confident when he takes the mound. As far as his hard hit percentage, you aren't hitting it hard when he strikes you out ..
  20. Got to admit I was wrong. As much as I like and have been following Jeffers in the minors I really didn't think he would get the call, but am thrilled he did. And what a start?
