    The problem with this is it doesn't account for signability. After the first few picks, it may not be selecting the best player so much as selecting the best player that fits into your draft strategy / budget.

    We know he said he was offered. What the extent was we don't know. If he was asked would you take 6.5M does that constitute as an offer? I could have been the Twins doing due diligence on the top X players to see what each would sign for. The Twins are not going to come out and say what actually happened.

    I just struggle to believe that Boras would do that. While he is always looking out for his players, it would be a pretty big hit to him to essentially cause the Twins to never deal with him again as they wouldn't be able to trust anything he says.

    Maybe the plan is to go over slot deeper in the draft to help restock the farm system? So far, it certainly seems like an odd strategy... I am going to give the new front office the benefit of the doubt because I want the Twins to be better, but I am at a bit of a loss on tonight

    Statistically, he may be the best at both. I think all of them are a bit of a crap shoot, and I haven't seen any of them pitch. Given it's year one of the new crew, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt (there is a one year limit on this )

    Agree - anything that has him making 10-15M in his first few years of FA is not going to happen. Why would he do it? Given inflation, I would think arbitration will have him making 15-20 in 2021 (Comp - Todd Frazier is at 12M this year in his final year)

    Agree. I will also say, the Twins hold a ton of leverage here. "Hi 18 year old, I'm going to offer you x million dollars today, but you can totally improve your number 1 overall draft stock by either taking a year off or going to college for three years to try and make a bit more"
