  1. Now hearing via the athletic that the deal is held up over medical concerns on Graterol. Will be interesting to see what happens next
  2. I don't buy they would 1) pay the salary that would have been required and 2) given up the prospects needed to get him. Neither of those items seems very Twins-like to me. I actually am ok with the moves they have made. I like the fact they are building a strong foundation that will hopefully sustain them going forward!
  3. I feel like this belongs here - https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/04/06/twins-willians-astudillo-walked-vs-phillies
  4. The problem with this way of looking at things is the reality that many of these players are underpaid* prior to free agency. There was always an unwritten understanding that while the players would not make full value prior to FA, they would be able to make up for it on the backend of their career. Teams are now wising up to the approach, and not securing the long term contracts like before. If you are a player, wouldn't you be upset with the system? The problem is that even fixing the issue for the younger players (faster to arbitration, faster to FA) does nothing for the current veterans. *Underpaid is relative -- I understand they all make more than most of us could dream of.
  5. I love the idea of the three batter minimum! This seems like the only proposal that will have a meaningful impact on the pace of play! It is pretty much a given that the 7-9th innings will have multiple extra commercial breaks. Also, my understanding is that the end of an inning will fulfill any requirements, so you can still use the loogy to get out of a jam...he just better succeed. I think the strategy stays in the game, it just changes. Also, are there still may players that still adjust their gloves between pitches, or is this still battle scars from Nomar? It seems like he is still the poster child for slow play, but hasn't actually been part of the game for nearly a decade.
  6. Ha - so you're saying to Twins will continue to not sign any free agents worth a crap? Money will always win out, and we know that the Twins tend to not be playing with the high spenders. The Cubs recently played this game with Kris Bryant, and it didn't seem to have much of a long term impact
  7. If you are going to make it around here, you are doing to start disagreeing with everyone stat!
  8. Agree - the first paragraph was pretty weak, but the results were fantastic the rest of the way
  9. This is asinine. It isn't his story to tell. You have no clue what she said to others nor what their response to her was. I'm shocked TD is letting this crap fest go on right now
  10. Maybe they are getting salary relief on Hughes with him out for the season. That could lead to them having a way to convince ownership that it is worth a salary dump trade by the braves as they can take it on
  11. I think the Twins may have something to do with the quality of the game thread. Welcome back to Twins baseball
  12. Maybe we can have a Bert-like 10 year HoF petition during every game.
  13. The commentating is a joke right now. Stick your head further in the sand Hunter
  14. This team is mentally weak. The "veteran" presence they have isn't working.
  15. Sounds rediculous when they refuse to admit it was a routine play
  16. Could also be indicating future interest. seems to be a handful of players redrafted every year
  17. Does anyone know what percentage of the guys drafted in rounds 30+ even show up in the minors? I have to believe a number of these guys just begin moving on with their life? (Had an uncle and co-worker who were drafted but didn't go any further, but that would have been many years ago)
  18. We don't know that this is true. The Twins finding out what McKay wanted in terms of money is not the same as an offer.
