  1. While every team has injury issues, the Twins seem to have more and more serious issues. I feel their approach to individual's physical health and rehabilitation has to come into question. The way Baldelli babies these guys with what seem to be minor injuries, it seems even more confusing. His resting of players throughout the season isn't the answer. Maybe they need to play through the minor aches and pains to build up some stamina or resistance. It's really confusing. so much so, that it seems to be more than a coincidence.
  2. Too much value placed on pitchers in MLB. They're all one ulnar nerve away from being a flop.
  3. The way Buck was hitting last year, you wouldn't think too much about the shift. He seemed to beat the shift by hitting the ball into the stands, on a lot of occasions.
  4. I would like to hang on to Kepler to see how he performs with the infield shift modification. I think it can help him immensely boost his average.
  5. The FO answers to the Pohlad family, Jim directly. The Pohlad family's goal is to make a profit. If the choice is between making a profit or winning a title, they'll take the profit. I don't believe they believe they can do both and sustain that for any period of time. I think they feel a championship will fall into their laps.
  6. Buxton doesn't even have to collide. The breeze running by Wallner, tears his miniscus.
  7. Did your payment have a direct deposit form to "Trump for Prez" account?
  8. Good luck to Aerrez tonight. A hit or 2 could wrap up the AL batting title. I must say I was upset he wasn't used as a pinch hitter last night. We had the tying run on in the ninth, and Baldelli didn't send him up. That goes against the grain. The object is to win games first and if personal goals are achieved, that's great. I sometimes wonder where Baldelli's head is at. That was a terrible messagehe sent out, to his players, no matter how big or small a deal it was.
  9. The possible am league batting champ sitting on the bench? go Rocco!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hendriks is a bore to watch. If he doesn't throw 100mph away, he spikes the pitch in the dirt. If the hitters would keep their eyes open and try to make contact, they might be more successful.
  11. Hamilton doesn't even look like making an attempt to steal second. Rocco is really consistent. Poor managing to the very end.
  12. When I was a kid, baseball was king. No soccer, no video games, no other activities that competed with baseball. With teams full of players, you had to be the best at fundamentals to get more paying time. You also had parents who would lend their time to coaching. Now the parents hardly even drop their kids off at the practice field. How many times after dinner did I throw a rubber ball against the side of the garage practicing fielding. I can't remember how many MLB players I struck out, pitching against a brick wall. The bottom line, playing and honing your basic baseball skills was a common thing. My older brother schooled me in the strategy of baseball. He explained the cut off throw, the taking of an extra base, etc. So I firmly agree with the above comment. The basics are no longer ingrained. Kids spend the majority of their time in the batting cage. Baseball is such a more complicated game than swinging for the fences.
  13. Well, in case I die or put my foot through the pc this might be the last time, I visit the game thread. Hope everyone has a great off season. enjoy the gophers/vikes or whatever, your pleasure. If I've offended you, I apologize. I've got a bad habit of verbalizing my frustrations. Take care.
  14. I propose a 'rollback season' for MLB. Not next year, but soon. We can go with : 2 leagues, with the league winner only in world series, No DH, no showboating without recourse by the opposition, no limited sliding rules at 2nd base or home, no instant replay, amphetamines only, etc. You get the idea. Oh, and a rollback on ticket prices. (I found an old stub for Met Stadium), $3.50 for a box seat.
  15. Right up to the end, Baldelli continues to manage with his head in the clouds. No clue, except on putting guys on the IL.
  16. Taking the extra base, advancing runners, proper tagging up, hitting the cutoff man, bunting, going with the pitch are pretty much lost crafts of today's player. Homers, strikeouts, bat flips, etc., are now 'in'. Bottom line, the game has evolved into a homerun derby. When I heard Baldelli doesn't even require a daily batting practice or infield practice, I knew this guy wouldn't get the results. When the FO tells us, Baldelli is included in the Twins future, it told me we can expect mediocrity, at best. It certainly doesn't give the fans much hope for future improvements, unless he really bottoms out. Unless the culture changes and the way the Twins play, we can't expect too much.
  17. I think the best thing to do is to avoid this area. Let the properly trained people do their jobs and provide the necessary assistance. The last thing the local people need is sight-seers and people getting in the way. Let's not put in danger the lives of the first responders and other support personnel.
