Article: Twins Manager Paul Molitor Fired
Battle ur tail off replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't care one way or another that Molitor was fired. I think he probably got the axe because all of our young players this year didn't do so well. Sans Eddie Rosario anyway. We all had to know also, that he is not Falvine's GUY and that they have probably been waiting to get rid of him and would have done so last year had they not made the playoffs/manager of the year, etc.- 284 replies

Article: Twins Manager Paul Molitor Fired
Battle ur tail off replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well, kind of. They are all C level guys to begin with. And they gave you C-D level production. These are the types of moves the Twins need to quit making.- 284 replies

Article: MIN 9, DET 3: Vive La Tortuga
Battle ur tail off replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Because they should bring in a DH that's gonna mash or put Sano there and find a 3B. DH is the one position you don't have to be any good at anything else but hitting for power. Shouldn't be too hard to find one.- 22 replies

If they don't give that guy a spot next year it's a tragedy. He's a damn winner, can't they see that? I'll take him at the very least as a backup/bench player. The other 2 catchers are boring and not that great anyway. Garver can hit, but is not very good behind the dish and Castro is a terrible hitter and doubt he comes back to do anything worth a snort anyway after his injury. Why not give this guy a chance?- 22 replies

Yah, I'm sure we need to be real worried about building a roster. Dump heap signings and youngs guys with C level talent? If the Twins are serious, they fire Molitor the day after the WS, buy the best Manager available and sign Manny Machado. They won't do either and will sit on their hands until all of the good guys are traded away or signed to teams that want to win. Let Mauer have his time. If he decides to come back, who is getting knocked out because of it? Some AAAA player? Not a big deal.

I don't want him to quit. I would however like to see him back here in a bench role. I think he still adds value to the team and I feel he has another good season or 2 in him. I think the deciding factor for him will be, does this team have a chance to win? He's looking at it now and seeing there is a pretty good chance the Twins are in it for another rebuild. If that's the case, he could and should retire. If management lets him know they are actually going to go out and do some wheeling and dealing to make a run at it, I could see him sticking around.

Hmm, Correa won a WS and was the #4 hitter in their lineup. He also gets on base at a high clip and hits for power. Buxton has been a bust so far. Correa hurt this year, yep, that's about the only comparison you could do with those 2 guys are hitters. I agree, we need him to produce. But so far he has shown literally nothing at the plate. If he can't be better than a .200 or under hitter or learn to get on base at a .330 or better clip, he will be useless to this organization.

Go ahead and take your list of minor leaguers there, put the names into a hat and pull out 4 names. That is how many will stick, now put those 4 into a hat and pull out 1 more name. That is how many will be better than league average. Don't let the Twins love of anyone with a pulse in the minor leagues cloud you judgement. They haven't developed any real successful players for YEARS.

I'd say just put Sano at DH and be done with it. Have him work on his hitting and nothing else. He is not here to field ground balls, he is here to hit them over the fence. Less chance for injury, focus on one thing, etc. His best stretch of baseball in his short major league career is when he was DHing anyway.
-
You can't do a full teardown, there is nothing left to tear down. You have to go into next season with the expectation that Sano and Buxton will lead this team. There is really no other way to go about it. If they don't, then figure another 4-5 years to be relevant again. I'd do whatever it takes to get one of the Mets stud starters. I'd trade any prospect they have other than the SS and the lefthanded outfielder. Twins have a history of ruining kids anyway, what good are they to us? Get a real #1 in here, sign Cruz and pickup the 2 best relievers in free agency. Bam - division title.

I'd try to go after Nelson Cruz on a 1 or 2 year deal. He's a bopper, Twins had a chance on him a few years back and didn't get him when they should've. Bring him in and let him DH. Find someone to play either one of the infield spots besides 1B. If you can find someone to play 3B, move Sano to 1. If you find a SS, move Polanco to 2B and if you find a 2B, leave everyone where they are at. Bullpen. Have to find at least 2 very solid guys of this will be a huge problem for them next year. We have money, spend it on the 2 best guys available.

Article: Let's Talk About Logan Forsythe
Battle ur tail off replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd trade him for whatever you can get for him here this week. Look to sign or trade for a 2B or SS that has some real talent. Yes, this will cost either money or prospects. I don't want to bring back a fringe guy like Forsythe. He'd be fine as a bench piece on a 1-year deal to backup some of the infield, but that's it for me. Set your sights higher. I don't have a lot of faith in Gordon, so if you want to go and trade for someone younger, go ahead and do so. Then use Gordon as trade bait when needed.- 44 replies

Article: What To Do With Byron Buxton?
Battle ur tail off replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Both guess too much right now. Hopefully it improves. It's like some people don't even watch the games and just look at numbers. Sometimes seeing is believing. He basically just has to lay off any over the outside part of the plate for now. Teams aren't dumb and will continue to fool these guys until they wise up. Don't throw them many strikes and soft stuff away is all it takes. Sano has been a little better since he got back though, I will say that. I have said the same thing about Delmon Young when he first got here. The guy played a couple games and it was obvious he would never be the great player they thought he would be. He swung at everything and was lost in the field. -

Because he can't hit and is injury prone. He might like the security. One decent deal and he's set for life. -
This is a good post and I'd aim even higher. I'd want a guy in that top 30 or so range. There needs to be a stud coming back if you trade Gibson. Even if you get less in the amount of players back, getting someone you can be pretty sure will make an impact would be a must for me if I was making that kind of trade.
-
Don't hate the fact that they moved him if they weren't gonna try to keep him for next year. The return isn't as good as I would have hoped, but I guess that is what a rental type player of his caliber goes for. The people that say he will sign back here or that the Twins will even attempt it though are probably fooling themselves. This rarely, if ever happens.
-
I'd keep him and look to this offseason to make a decision on him. Try to extend him for a reasonable amount, and if he won't do it, you can always trade him then when you have a multitude of teams looking for starting pitching help. I just think with how well he's pitched, you have to at least consider making him a part of this team for the next few years. If he won't have it, or wants way too much money, then go and see what you can get for him, but I think a major sit down talk and see what we can do needs to happen before they trade him.
-
Replace the names you had there with Sano, Buxton, Berrios and Kepler and you have what they fed to us a few years back. I don't trust that this next "wave" will be all that you are thinking they are. Are some of them going to pan out? Yep, they will. Will more of them fail than pan out? Yep. I think it needs to be a measured approach. Dumping anyone that is under team control right now looking forward to 2020 or beyond I think is a mistake. If they think they have a team that will be ready to rock in 2020 or so, they should be looking to build a team that is ready for 1 or 2 of those stud prospects to contribute to. Remember, Buxton and Sano still have plenty of potential and if they come back and do what we were all told they were capable of, this team can be pretty good. You also have a pretty nice starting staff right now with a guy like Romero waiting to do his thing. A guy like Gibson or Pressly can be a part of any team that looks to contend in 2020.

Article: TX 8, MIN 1: Circling the Drain
Battle ur tail off replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I mean, honestly, does it really matter? As soon as Sano had to get sent down along with Buxton, this season was over. Those 2 held the keys for this season and completely tanked. In fact, they hold the keys to this organization's success or lack there of for the next few years. If they can't make it, this will turn into ANOTHER rebuild. Fun... -

That's just it. Those clamoring for Gordon better just get ready. He's a slap hitter at best and likely not a difference maker anyway. -
Yep, I don't think it's going to happen. When one thing goes right, the other fails each game. That's the sign of an incosistent, marginal team. If they can finish the season at .500, I guess that would be good. That said, I thought this year would be a step forward. Instead, it's been a step back and now we are worrying that the 2 hyped up "chosen ones" are just that - hype. Let's hope not, if those 2 can't carry us, it's gonna be another pretty long stretch of bad Twins teams.

Article: MIN 6, STL 0: Fernand0 R0mer0!
Battle ur tail off replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This kid looks like the real deal. The stuff alone makes him a clear notch above most. He also seems supremely confident, which bodes well also. Him and Berrios at the top if these guys truly keep maturing looks to be a great 1-2 punch. Gonsalves? Sure, he should be fine, but I see him as a #4 type guy. Berrios and Romero have electric pitches/movement, etc. They are both a joy to watch up there.- 79 replies

It's kind of the Twin MO though throughout the years. Sign washed up vets and let them get their head beat in for half a season before making a change. I am always of the belief if you are going to sign FAs, sign high end guys and forget about guys like Lance Lynn. IMO, there are 2-3 guys in our system right now that could do as good or better than he has for the league minimum, with no feelings of "having" to keep them in the rotation because you have a decent wad of money invested in them.
-
It is just super odd how this team has such a hard time playing against the pinstripes. As has been said, even when they aren't this unbeatable squad, the Twins seem to make them that way. No matter who is on our roster and who is on theirs. I'm not even sure it is psychological what with the different roster makeups. Either way, it gets old to fans! BEAT the Yankees!!
