    Toledo 4, St. Paul 3
    Box Score

Jason Garcia made the start tonight for Saint Paul and he turned in 5 2/3 innings of scoreless work. Garcia gave up just two hits while punching out six and walking only two batters. He did plunk one of the top prospects in baseball, however.

The Saints recorded 11 hits on the evening but were able to push across just three runs. Mark Contreras kicked off the scoring with a 1st inning single to score Jose Miranda (who had doubled). St. Paul then added two more in the 2nd inning on a Drew Stankiewicz liner and Miranda's second double.

Toledo’s talented roster made things interesting late with top prospects Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson both contributing. Ian Gibault allowed a 9th inning double that plated the tying Mud Hens run before the next batter walked St. Paul off with a single up the middle.

I had a kneejerk reaction to

#16 - Brent Rooker (Minnesota) - Did not play

Rooker pinch hit for Cave in the...7th(?) got hit by a pitch, and was pinch run for by Simmons...

Not a lot of action there either, but that is playing... almost.

Anyway, sorry we got walked off!

Good to know there is another game Thursday to set things right.

On the hitting side, it will interesting to see if Miranda gets the nod for the BA MiLB Player of the Year award. MJ Melendez and Bobby Witt, Jr from Omaha are probably right up there with him.  I'm guessing it will be Witt due to name recognition and prospect shine (he's also had an incredible season), but Miranda has a chance.

My guess is that Witt will win it, like you said, because of his name recognition and he had a great year too. So did Melendez.

Miranda was named to the MLB Pipeline 1st team All Prospect team.

Jovani Moran was named 2nd team.

There's a lot of ridiculous stat lines again this year in triple-A. Miranda wasn't even mentioned in Keith Law's PotY article, in part because of this. He is definitely worthy, though!

That Jose Miranda fella seems good at baseball.

4-5! I saw him hit the other day and he took four pitches before pulling an outside fastball into the corner for an effortless double.
