We don't know exactly when the official announcement will come, but at this point we do know that Derek Falvey is going to be appointed as the new President of Baseball Operations for the Minnesota Twins.

The Minnesota Twins finally got their man.

After being on the precipice of a deal with the Atlanta Braves for left-handed starter Jaime Garcia last week, only to have the deal fall apart based on the medical reports of Twins prospect Nick Burdi, the two sides have agreed on a trade: In exchange for hard-throwing prospect Huascar Ynoa the Twins will receive Garcia as well as catcher Anthony Recker.

Twins fans might not want to hear it but Yu Darvish is heading to the Chicago Cubs on a six-year deal that could be worth up to $150 million. Minnesota had made a formal offer to the top free agent pitcher but Darvish’s camp wanted clubs to stretch the deal to six years. The Cubs were willing to make that jump.

Now that Darvish picked another club, Minnesota’s front office is going to have to act fast. There will likely be a domino effect with the first big name comimg off the board. That being said, there are a couple of different paths the Twins could take to solidify their rotation.

It was a rough night for the Minnesota Twins, as they were walloped 10-1 by the Tampa Bay Rays. For the better part of seven innings, this game was a pitchers’ dual, but it quickly turned into a route in favor of the Rays.

The Twins have played two of their best games of the season to open this series against the Boston Red Sox. Last night it was the Eduardo Escobar show, tonight the Twins were led by excellent performances by both Max Kepler and from the bullpen. The Twins have clinched the series win and will go for what could be their first sweep of a three or four game series all season Thursday afternoon.

Tyler Austin blasted two more home runs Sunday afternoon, one into the Catch area above the center field batter’s eye, giving him six homers in just 12 games with the Twins. Unfortunately, that was all the offense the Twins could muster as they lost their third straight game to the A’s.

Baseball has many things that are an integral part of game. Unfortunately, chewing tobacco has been tied to baseball for as long as the game has been played. Like most things in baseball, change is slow and grueling. Players can still be seen with a dip in their mouth even though 16 of the 30 MLB stadiums have banned the use of smokeless tobacco. It’s still part of the game and the Twins are no stranger to tobacco use.

Here is every single big move from the 2019 trade deadline. It seemed as if every single team waited until about one minute after the trade deadline passed to announce their moves, but in the end it was a fun and exciting deadline. The Twins did what they set out to do by acquiring two back end relievers so this is not as disappointing as most Twins fans will tell you. It wasn’t perfect, but it was exactly what most of us have been asking for all season.

The magic number is three! In a game where more questions about the strating pitching were surfaced rather than answered, the Twins were still able to pull out the win to go along with a series win. The bullpen was excellent once again despite having to go nearly seven innings, Miguel Sano hit two bombs, and Nelson Cruz joined an exclusive home run club.
