Call it a hot take. I'm fine with that. It's been cold out, and the frozen state of affairs this offseason is only deepening the chill.

But I've become convinced that the Twins are destined to sign Yu Darvish. And while it's very possible that my desperation for something – anything – to happen this winter is driving me into delirium, I really don't think it's a totally baseless prognostication.

When hundreds of Minnesota baseball diehards congregate at the Winter Meltdown in a couple of weeks, I think we'll all be celebrating the biggest free agency splash in Twins franchise history.

It’s early June, and the Minnesota Twins are not only keeping their proverbial heads above water, but in fact have the second-most wins and the best winning percentage in the entire American League. Yes this Twins team, who was picked by national types to be among the five or so worst teams in baseball, is leading the charge in one of the better divisions in baseball.

The argument may not be so far-fetched.

Every Sunday at Target Field is Kids Day, where kids 12 and under can channel their best Byron Buxton baserunning and sprint, toddle, or crawl around the Target Field bases, and soon, both the MLB Players and Minnesota’s littlest fans will have a slightly easier path around the bases. 

Randy Dobnak has proven himself to be a steady groundball pitcher in his first two years. This spring however, he looks like a strikeout machine. So why isn’t Dobnak opening the season in the rotation?

Jason Castro recently became the latest in a series of injuries and suspension which have contributed to a pedestrian start to the 2018 season for the Minnesota Twins. Castro was struggling offensively, his slow start already stimulating debate around how much playing time Mitch Garver should have.

Miguel Sano has played in 17 games for the Minnesota Twins in 2019. He missed the beginning of the season rehabbing from an Achilles injury, and joined the club in the middle of May. Through his first 75 plate appearances Sano has fanned 28 times while drawing nine walks. Each of those strikeouts has drawn the ire of Twins fans and stirred up a vocal minority suggesting the club deserves more. They are wrong, it doesn’t matter, and the slugger has been great.
