Miguel Sano has likely played his last game in Minnesota, which leaves behind a cloudy Twins legacy. Is he the biggest disappointment of the last 30 years?

His name invariably elicits a visceral response from Twins fans. When talking about how the 2015 pitching staff will shake out, nobody seems to like hearing him brought up.

Well, like it or not (and in most cases the answer is "not"), Mike Pelfrey was signed to a two-year deal during the offseason and is owed $5.5 million next year, so he'll get his chance.

Trade season is fast approaching. The Twins have only eight more games until the deadline, and they must improve the club if they want to find success in the second half and into the postseason. 

This season Joe Mauer will enter the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame. Following his retirement, his number “7” was immediately retired and hung alongside the greats at Target Field. When it comes to year one of Cooperstown though, perception isn’t something that seems to benefit Mauer. Why that is remains a mystery.

Seemingly a minor note in the Thursday night news that the Twins had traded Eduardo Nunez for Adalberto Mejia was the fact that Jorge Polanco was recalled to the big league roster.

But now what? Will Polanco finally get an opportunity to play every day for the Twins?

In mid-November the Minnesota Twins packed the Mall of America rotunda to introduce a couple of new things. One was known at the time, and the other one would be revealed later. New jerseys and a new head of ownership. Both of those things may help to highlight the offseason thus far, but fans want to know this group will spend before spending their own money.

We have now made it to February which means we have baseball for the next nine months. Although spring training is still a couple of weeks away, and games are a bit further than that, ways for fans to interact with the sport remain constant. Baseball cards are one avenue keeping that sentiment true, and Topps is about ready to kick off 2023.

With that, Jim Souhan laid out his rigid directive in a scattered rant about the pitfalls of independent blogging and new media. I won't respond to the post (John did so with eloquence yesterday), but I thought I'd offer up a more comprehensive and balanced guide to quality Twins content, with the team giving us plenty to discuss late in the season.

Rumors proved to be true earlier this week when the Twins non-tendered the contract of outfielder Eddie Rosario. In his six seasons with the Twins, Eddie cultivated a strong following thanks to his electric bat, stunning putouts, and infamous blunders. Now a free agent, the question becomes, where will Eddie land next?

After taking a year off to recover from elbow surgery, Miguel Sano is back in Twins camp and opening some eyes with his prodigious power. Folks around the compound have marveled at his strength during batting practice sessions in which he has routinely driven baseballs well beyond the outfield walls.

If Sano's bat isn't major-league ready, it is very, very close. Finding a place in the lineup for him will not be difficult. Finding a place in the field for him... well, that's another story.
