MINNEAPOLIS – The Twins have their annual team Hall of Fame inductions this weekend at Target Field. To kick things off Friday, Ron Gardenhire and fellow inductee Dan Gladden met with the media prior to the Twins vs. Rangers. Then "Gardy" went and did a little bartending.

The Twins have added depth at multiple positions on the roster, but trading Luis Arraez leaves a hole to fill. One position might be the key to the Twins' line-up firing on all cylinders during the 2023 campaign.

The Minnesota Twins selected Nick Gordon with the 5th overall pick in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. It took him seven years to make his Major League debut, not uncommon for a high school kid, but the longevity with the organization may be coming to an end.

The Twins had a promising start to the series opener against the Rangers, especially on defense, but a Sonny Gray meltdown in the fifth inning was enough for Texas to secure a come-from-behind win.

The Twins opened a four-game series against the Rangers on Friday night with a .500 record (11-11) against AL West opponents this season. The Twins put themselves up early on back-to-back homers, but could they keep the lead with limited run support thereafter? 

Shortstop is one of baseball's most important positions, and the Twins have had minimal long-term stability at that spot. So, is there hope for the future?

There was no Twins game last Thursday, but there was still activity at 1 Twins Way as the team completed a trade with the Padres. Heading to San Diego was Taylor Rogers, Brent Rooker and a whole bunch of cash. Coming back to Minneapolis was Chris Paddack, Emilio Pagan and the always interesting “player to be named later.”

Earlier this offseason, the Minnesota Twins traded third basemen Gio Urshela to the Los Angeles Angels largely due to the fact that he would make roughly $9 million through arbitration. In signing left-handed slugger Joey Gallo, they’ve committed to an $11 million deal. There are a few different things they could be thinking.

The Twins previous core continues to be dismantled as young players continue approaching the MLB and veterans fizzle or get shipped out of town. For Jorge Polanco, 2023 may have a huge bearing on his future with the Twins.

Eight total pitches were needed and the Royals presented a threat until late in the ninth inning, but the Twins held on to win the game behind a great offensive performance. Gary Sánchez and Gio Urshela, both with three hits, were two of the six Minnesota batters with a multi-hit game.

After a second consecutive disappointing season, the Minnesota Twins front office has come under plenty of fire. There is one area in particular, though, where this front office has especially hurt the Twins’ chances.

From the moment that the Minnesota Twins signed Carlos Correa last spring, they knew it was a one-year deal. For them to extend him on a long-term contract more negotiations were going to need to take place, but unfortunately, they fell short of pushing to a point where it mattered.
