It also represents the most exciting and challenging stretch of games in the first few months and where my goal of attending all 81 Twins away games gets "real." Yankee Stadium. Fenway Park. While the depleted Twins battled to a draw against two of the East Division's best teams, fan plotted the action in the Twins Daily forums.

What a ride.

The Twins came up just short in their surprising run at a playoff spot thanks to a disappointingly flat effort at Target Field over the weekend, but nonetheless the 2015 season has to be viewed as a profoundly positive one for the organization.

When the Minnesota Twins acquired catcher John Ryan Murphy from the Yankees, the Twins’ front office touted his potential to be an impact player both as a defensive catcher and an offensive one as well.

In the aftermath of the deal, Twins assistant GM Rob Antony told reporters that his staff felt that Murphy had the potential to be a solid “two-way” catcher -- meaning he would be able to contribute both behind the plate and next to it. Sharing that sentiment was Yankees GM Brian Cashman who felt that Murphy had the talent to start but was blocked by Brian McCann and being chased by catching prospect Gary Sanchez, making him the perfect trade piece to a team seeking a catcher with starter potential and nabbing Aaron Hicks, whom Fangraphs.com just determined as one of the game’s most “well-rounded” players, in the process.

So can Murphy be a two-way player? Let’s set aside the catching aspect and focus on the stick.

Across the baseball landscape, teams have turned more regularly to openers and bullpen games to cover innings in a 162-game season. Do the Twins have a perfect pitcher to fit the opener role?

As we barrel toward December 1, 2021, Major League Baseball has an important date on its hands. One league has a pretty clear-cut choice as the regular season comes to a close. The other league's MVP race is a little more open-ended which can lead to quite the debate. There's little chance the MVP would come from a team with over 100 losses but he could end up getting some top-10 votes. We learned in mid-September that Twins pitcher Griffin Jax had been named the 2021 MLB winner of the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award winner. On Thursday night, he received the honor in a virtual ceremony.
