  • Game Thread: Twins @ Yankees, 4/23@6:10pm CT

    Riverbrian

It’s big, four-game series that kicks off tonight in the Bronx as the Twins and Yankees go to battle in a series that could really help the Rays.

Everyone is kind of numb in Twins Territory right now after the weekend in Tampa. If you look at it correctly… it can make you kind of proud. Contributing to charity should make you feel good because there are people out there who really need our help. The Rays came into the weekend 5-13 and now they have hope at 8-13.

The Twins can continue to help the needy Rays by knocking the Yankees down a peg.

This is all important to AL East people. We are okay over in the AL Central. Always remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint.

Here are some things to think about:

    1. Top Non-Trump News Story (Or Stories):

A Colorado woman is facing a $500 fine from U.S. Customs and Border Protection for saving a free apple she received as a snack from Delta Air Lines. Toward the end of her flight from Paris, airline attendants passed out apples in a plastic bag as a snack. She wasn’t hungry so she put the apple in her carry-on. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, “every fruit or vegetable must be declared to a CBP agriculture specialist or CBP officer and must be presented for inspection. This free apple caused a $500 fine and it seems that mercy isn’t going to be granted. A spokesman for Delta Air Lines said that giving away free apples, tipping off the CBP and then splitting the revenue has produced a handsome new revenue stream.

    2. Our Twins:

It’s a marathon… not a sprint. The baseball schedule is 162 games long and the Twins have played 16 games which is one-tenth of the season (close enough). Being one-tenth through the season makes it incredibly easy to calculate the season win and loss pacing. You just take the wins and losses and times each by 10. The Twins are 8-8 so that calculates to the Twins winning 102 games and losing 60. Don’t question it. We were just swept by the Rays. If you just go along with it, you will feel better.

    3. The Yankees:

Here they come. Let me list some of the players our pitching staff must face: Brett Gardner, Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius, Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Hicks; plus Glayber Torres has arrived just in time to add to the pile. Many will look at the lineup and think that the Yankees have very few holes but the Yankees are not as strong as you think they are. For example, if all of those players got hurt at the same time, I don’t think Cashman prepared the team for that possibility and this has left the team vulnerable.

    4. Today’s Joe M Conversation:

Mauer: Do you know what this world needs?

Montana: Valet parking at emergency rooms.

Maddon: A transparent toaster so you can see the condition of the toast.

McCarthy: Lucky Charms cereal that is just marshmallows.

Morgan: Mirrors that also take pictures.

Mauer: I was gonna say "love," but I like those ideas better.

    5. Pencils:

Shouldn’t the #2 Pencil be #1 by now?

I'm not sure what's going on with the Twins. For some reason, after the big win in PR, they seem to be a bit flat.

While watching the Yankees, I'm going to be like the little old lady who spies a naked man...hands over my eyes but peeking through fingers while declaiming "I just can't look."

Last night I had a very long and elaborate dream about Seth and Sano. There was a third story line, but as with most dreams, that had already faded.

For some reason, I was a police officer. This is ridicoulos, but that was my role. For some reason, I kept reading Seth's big about food and baseball, but someone stuck me as weird. No one else was reading it, but Seth had lots of money.

He spent a lot of time writing about Sano. I was suspicious, so I started looking into Sano. Turns out, he's actually from Alaska, and isn't Latin at all! Once I found that out, I traveled to Alaska and started interviewing over of Seth's friends that lived up there. Not only was Sano an eskimo, but he had killed someone and Seth had been blackmailing him!

    Weird dream.

You think weird, I think "entertaining."

Re: Lucky Charms cereal that is just marshmallows.

I heard a blurb on the radio the other day saying such a product was available. No idea where, but hey...

Pretty sure I saw that in Fred Meyer last month. In the generic cereal area (no idea why I looked, we never buy cereal).
