Concernign Patrick Henry, the Revolutionary American Patriot

While commening on another forum post, I came up with the following, which I felt was of a sufficient level of awesome to merrit it's own post. The post, with some minor edits, appears below.

"...give me liberty, or give me death!"

Patrick Henry in 1775 uttered these words (or something near them, as the speach was not put in writting for more than 30 years following the event) in an address to the Virginia Convention to convince the Virginia house of Burgesses to deliver the Virginia troops to the Revolution. I propose, that in hopes of acquiring a legitimate MLB SS (both offensively and defensively) or true front end talent that a similiar appeal to TR and the front office must be made much the way Patrick Henry made his compassioned plea for action more than 200 years ago.

"It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Buxton, Sano– but there is no time for waiting. The off-season is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of expensive pens signing lucrative contracts! Our brethren are already in the field (and at the desk)! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is money so dear, or prospects so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of 2014 success? Forbid it, Almighty Baseball God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me an above average offensive shortstop who can handle the position defensively, a true front of the rotation starter or give me death (or beer, I will glady accept free beer!"
