Pirates still interested in Justin Morneau

For Willingham the price should be high. He is under contract for one more year and the Orioles can flip him for prospects next year as well. Terry is doing the right thing here. Willingham will likely have more value next year so no hurry to make a deal today.

I agree.

I just think it's laughable that some people actually think there is some broad conspiracy to make it seem like Terry Ryan's demands are high when they are not.

The simplest answer is nearly always the correct one, not the most complicated.

I'm not sure who those people are. I've seen arguments on both sides about the money piece with Morneau, but not so much about the demands. TR probably is asking for a lot and I'm perfectly okay with that. You don't win the trades you do make by establishing a habit of caving for scraps.

Plenty of people here have advocated dumping any/all of the vet trio for a sack of old balls. It'd clear out some PT and roster space which is great, but we can't ignore the implications elsewhere -- general fan response, signing FAs this offseason like everyone is hoping for, etc.

Whether Morneau goes or not (either now or FA), those decisions on Doumit and Willingham are probably more realistic to happen in the offseason anyway.

Read the post from Pilgrim that I quoted, obviously that is who/what I was referring to, which is why I quoted it in my post.

Moderator's note: please, don't do this. Calling what anyone thinks "laughable" is a clear enough violation of the "respect" part of the Comments Policy

In some sense it doesn't actually matter if you go on to name names. Of course, in another sense it does.

Great point. They are also well regarded for having a strong statistical analysis team. I apologize for the pun, but you can see some pretty clear correlations going on here.

Perhaps their pitching his improved by framing, but they also utilize shifts more than anyone else based on statistical analysis.
