Because Gordon’s not that good.  Hes not undervalued by Twins fans, he’s become ridiculously overvalued by many.  He’s a fine bench guy.  Not a guy you want batting in the heart of the lineup and playing everyday LF (like last year…..when we were an awful team).

He’s not especially great defensively.  He doesn’t hit for all that much power.  He doesn’t get on base all that much.  Minor league track record is very uninspiring.  An empty .270 BA and 50 RBI being your marquee season isn’t anything to write home about.  He’s a JAG (just a guy).  Nothing there to indicate any sort of star potential.

He had a fine year….for a bench guy.  We probably just saw his ceiling.

Buxton, Gallo, and Kepler have track records of success in the MLB (although spotty).  Gordon hasn’t been particularly good at any point of his professional career at any level.  If I have my pick between the 4 players, Nick Gordon is the last selected.

I do agree with your frustration with this team’s roster construction.  But, Nick Gordon isn’t the answer to anything.  Great kid, brings energy, all that, but just not that good.

Your logic is like that of the fools running this team. Let's make sure we use guys that hit .160 and .224 while the guy that has shown he can hit .272 rides the bench. Neither Kepler or Gallo have hit .272 in their 8 year careers, yet you prefer them over Gordon. If we look beyond batting average in 2022 Gordon had 50 RBI, Kepler had 49 and Gallo had 47. Also, why is anyone to assume Gordon has hit his ceiling after 1 full season in the majors? It would be a safer bet to assume that Kepler and Gallo have hit theirs. Why assume his defense is bad when you saw him in the outfield for the 1st time in his career and you then use that to compare him to Kepler and Gallo who have played it their entire careers. Give the guy a chance to learn playing in the outfield. It's like everyone here bashing Miranda's defense when he never played 1st base before. Let's all just assume he'll be really bad defensively at 3B too. If hitting an occasional HR and striking out every 3rd time up is so great why is Sano gone? Why did the Twins strand so many base runners in 2022? Because they were trying to hit HRs instead of manufacturing runs. The HR ball is gone. It's over for the Bomba Squad. You can't hit 3 run homeruns when all you have is guys that swing for the fences and strikeout instead of getting ON BASE. Gordon will do that better than Kepler or Gallo ever will.
