Yeah, but you've got to admit, pricing it higher than an AUTOGRAPHED jersey of the top player from our Football, Hockey and Basketball teams does make one pause and say "HUH???"

The market can determine the price for these high priced shirts.

Who cares?  Don’t buy them - problem solved.

This is a Twins focused website with tons of diehard fans. And the consensus is no one wants to buy it at that price. Isn’t that a problem? Who’s buying them then?

All due respect, there are subsections of people that will complain regardless of the price.  The price could be half of that, and I would bet the posts here would still be what they are.

In a world of $500 tennis shoes, like it or not, this is the market for these types of things today.  In a few months, the prices will come down.

I also don’t buy into the “limited supply” line on their website. In e-commerce, there are tools you can use to always indicate “Only 5 left!” on products when in fact their inventory is way more than 5 remaining. I sell a software that has that functionality.

If indeed they have limited amount of product, what a bungled 2 years in the making brand refresh.

This is about supply and demand and profit margins. They will set the price to whatever maximizes profits, and nothing else matters. It's like that just about everywhere. I don't like it, I think it's wrong to not consider the fans, but as we've seen in MLB, they don't seem to be particularly interested in pleasing us. The price for games, food, beverage ... it's all too much, imo. But as long as enough people pay it to meet their line, they do it. But price gouging, no ... that's not what this is, imo.

Brock. if you could earn 10% more than you do knowing it would not change your customer base, you would.  If you say you wouldn't, you are not being honest.  At what point does it become gouging?  20%?  50%?

Frankly, you're wrong. I've made many such decisions in the past because I'm not comfortable with the decision and that decision would have been completely invisible to you. There are all sorts of options and settings I have disabled in the interest of users, their privacy, and their overall experience at Twins Daily.

Again, don't assume everyone just behaves in this way because they can.

Oh, it’s high priced, yes. I said that. And I won’t be buying one at that price. Curious enough, I went to the Twins site, they seem to only have limited quantities of the new jerseys and they say almost sold out. But the old jerseys are heavily discounted. I wonder if the price will come down next spring?

Frankly, I find simple tshirts way over priced for most sports and don’t buy those, either. I have a few hats. They are old, but still do just fine.

Old dirty-upped hats are best.  New hat makes you look like your a poser.

You think I am making assumptions about your behavior,  Yet you make assumptions that the prices of the jerseys are what they are without knowing what the costs are going into it.

I am going to stop here due to the path of this discussion.

They're artificially restricting supply before the biggest shopping day of the year. They also need to clear out a lot of Kasota Gold inventory. I guarantee you will be able to purchase a new jersey by Spring Training.

Old Tees do just fine as well.

I'm a grown-ass man who can afford $400 for a jersey but would feel incredibly foolish doing so.

The thing is, they will get that.

If they are selling most of their stock then it's not overpriced.

Price gouging can be reduced by less demand, and less demand can happen through sharing information such as those price comparisons. Yes, there will be plenty of people who want (and can afford) the next bright new shiny thing. Don't weep for their spent money. But for others, when shopping, consider that 1, those other three teams are arguably assembled to be closer to a championship game and 2, the signatures are from legitimate HOF-potential caliber players. If the Twins develop, produce, or acquire a similar talent and have their signature on a jersey, I'll buy one. For now I am content with my Tony Oliva baseball bat from the 60s.

These new jerseys are Nike "authentic" ones, not the cheaper-priced replicas which regularly sell for $115-$150. A quick look around MLB Shop confirms that the pricing of the Twins' new authentic jerseys is roughly the same price as all other teams' authentic jerseys. These prices are not new or predatory in any way. Wait a little longer for the cheaper replica jerseys to arrive in stock.

It might not be "gouging" but it is certainly absurd. And embarrassing. Read the room, Twins.

I disagree, the Yankees authentic version is regularly 12% cheaper and is currently 43% cheaper.
