"Rebranding" underway: New scoreboards and new uniforms

Of course I'll have to reserve comment on the new uniforms until I see them, but the one thing they had better not mess with is the TC logo. It should stay on their caps and continue to be used elsewhere. It's unique and it immediately identifies the team. There's nothing resembling it anywhere else in sports.

Why am I envisioning a classic pinstripes uni with the old-style Twins font slightly tweaked/colored? Well that, and after Phil Miller's Strib article, I'm guessing that Minnie and Paul will no longer be "Twins".

DIdnt think about that, but I bet thats part of it.

I have no problem with it, but man, is there a certain portion of the fan base thats going to freak out.

Well, then you have the whole 'sexism' thing. Should one of the two be female? At least fraternal twins are something that happens from time to time. Or do you go with adrogynous figures and rename them Chris and Pat? I don't think there's a way to "win" with any sort of change TBH.

Gonna be in the minority here, but I think the Twins (and most teams) actually SHOULD tweak their core color scheme. There are already way too many red white and blue teams. I realize that baseball is all about tradition and nobody wants to see teams with neon yellow or hot pink accents, but just using traditional colors like red, blue, green, white, gray, beige, black, orange, maroon, gold, purple, and brown (not to mention lighter and darker shades, powder blue is very distinct from navy blue) you can make over a hundred unique two-color combinations. Expand that to three colors, and there's no reason that more than one team should land on red white and blue.

Currently there are at least 19 teams that use red or blue as one of their main colors, and ten of  them have a main color scheme that includes red white and blue, Whenever I watch the Twins on TV, if one of the teams is wearing a blue or red uniform, I have to look closely for a while to figure out which team is the Twins. You should be able to identify your team at a glance, even if they have half a dozen variant uniforms. Differentiating the teams should be more important than team traditions. I never have to look twice to figure out which team is the Vikings.

I'd say the obvious difference here is that about half the players on the Twins' 40-man roster are not white, while none of them at all are women.

And I could argue that there are more women fans in the stands than there are male PoC, so who do you try to satisfy?

Considering Minnie and Paul are wearing baseball uniforms and holding baseball equipment, I think it's reasonable to assume that they are intended to represent baseball players. If they change one of the guys in the logo to have darker skin, and somebody publishes an editorial saying that the new logo isn't inclusive enough because both figures are male, I will send you ten bucks.

I do like the interlocking TC, but it's really nothing special, except for the specific letters. Quick, which of these is the Twins?

These are each recognizably about one team, even if outsiders aren't necessarily in the know on what the letters stand for.

The generic M they had on their uniforms and caps for a while -  hated hated HATED that.  "Milwaukee?  Miami?  Montana?"

(The worst ever, IMO, was the Expos' M.  "What the heck is elb?" :) )

You can put a bow on a dog and it’s still a dog....anyway in an article today there was mention of trading Arraez and Polanco! Arraez and Correa along with help from Miranda, Urshella and Polanco before he got hurt, carried this team. So getting rid of your best players will “improve” the team? You better hope Correa comes back. Mgmt knew Buxton is Terminally Injured. He is a big reason we did not stay in 1st place. Rocco can not manage a pitching staff if his life depended on it. I think we have a couple of great Starters in Ryan and Louie. Unload Kepler and Sano. Neither want to be here. I’d hire Johann Santana as a pitching coach and whoever gave Bucky all that money needs to go. Keep our Navy and Red uniforms and spend the money elsewhere. You’re welcome.

I actually preferred the classic M logo, if you are concerned that anyone would confuse us with  Milwaukee or MIA, just add a N.

Or maybe U of MN should change their logo to TC so they wouldn't be confused with the numerous universities & colleges that start with M
