Montas or Mahle, Which pitcher helped his new team the least?

Just a reminder that not all injuries only happen to Twins players.  The Yankees acquired Montas at the trade deadline and gave up some good prospects too and he now has a 6.35 ERA for the Yankees and went on the DL with an injury.  Mahle at least had a good ERA in his few innings after we got him but is also hurt.  so far in the evaluation process, who got the worse deal of the 2?

Lee, Wallner, and Miranda. With how well the FO has traded away prospects. This seems like the most likely option.

Huh?  Who has the front office traded away that you has the pedigree of those 3?  Steer is struggling.  Povich has had a good season but is at AA.  Hajjaar has potential but he's been on the IL too and struggled since the trade.  CES continues to mash minor league pitching but doesn't really have a defensive position.  He seems redundant with the Twins.  Not defending the front office (I guess i am) but it seems they traded the prospects they should have while hanging on the Lewis, SWR, Julien, etc.....

If you think about it, it makes sense. The A's are in rebuild mode. If they were to get 2 MLB-ready prospects in Miranda and Wallner, that helps them develop other position players to get there. And/or they can trade some of their excess veterans or prospects for some controllable pitching. Lee was just a name I threw out there because the FO traded away our 1st round pick from last year (although he was just a HS player last year and he could develop into a good pitcher or he may not). Also if Lee is hitting and fielding this well, that would make it even more likely that the A's would have tried pursue him to replace Andrus in a year or 2.

And Lewis could not be traded as he was on the IL. SWR was pitching very well and we know that the Twins have been struggling with pitching so trading away from the position where an Org is struggling doesn't make much sense unless you have a plethora of players there, which we don't. Julien was more than likely held onto in case we are not able to hold onto Correa AND if Polanco is gonna start living on the IL like Buxton, we need a bat that is MLB ready to step up and go. Arreaz/Gordon could take over in the field until the coaches feel that Joulien was ready to play there.

Mahle. Hands down. The Twins NEEDED a mid/upper rotation starter who would pitch deeper into games. NEEDED. The Yankees wanted another dominant arm.

Montas started 8 games for the Yankees. He had 3 good starts.
Mahle started 4 games for the Twins. He had 1 good start.

I yearn for an alternate universe where the FO signed one of Gausman, Ray, or Rodon in FA, and therefore didn't need to trade for either Paddack OR Mahle.  A Twins team with one of those 3 in the rotation, plus Rogers instead of Pagan in the bullpen might very well be headed to the playoffs; the resulting increase in fan interest along with added revenue from postseason games would pay for a sizable chunk of that salary.

When Falvinelli does their post-mortem of this season, I hope that fact stands out; refusal to invest money led directly to the need to part with talent multiple times, while also directly impacting the financial topline negatively.
