Are Reinforcements Close Enough for the Twins?

Recommended Posts

The season still has legs and if the Twins are limping they still have life. Giving up is just not an option. Injuries have hurt. Other teams have brought players up from AA. Perhaps we can see what one or two of Julien, Martin, Isola, Williams, Helman, or others can accomplish. At this point these guys can only do better than what we have seen from Beckham and Cave. And, yes I have hoped that both would be successful. It hasn't worked this time.

That Cave has regressed is sad after a fairly decent early return, but at that,  all players seem to watch a first pitch ,in the strike zone.  zip by and then swing at garbage.

There is some thing very wrong with what some one who coaches is telling them.

I would play Celestino or Gordon in centerfield and I would go ahead and bring up Matt Wallner, adding him to the 40-man early. He can't be any worse than Cave of Beckham at this point.

Also, Palacios. A backup shortstop now that could also be a stopgap if Correa opts out.

Gordon is not a good center fielder, for those who trashed  Rosario in left. he is too much like Rosaro minus a strong arm.

Cave is a better Center fielder but his bat has gone cold -  again - where as, Gordon is still hitting fairly well.

I wish the Twins were as aggressive as the Atlanta team, and would promote guys that might not be ready, but have futures and elite skills. The won't be "ruined" if the come up too soon and fail, but at least they'd have a chance to be good (Atlanta promoted at least two guys this year that were crushing AA, but hadn't even been there for 100 at bats.....).

How can Beckham be on a big league roster? Totally overwhelmed at the plate and now last night cost the game with his error with 2 outs. The best at St Paul or Whichita HAS to better than him!! Larnach won't be much help. Was lost at the plate and covers so little ground and with Buck out is a liability in LF.

Larnach scored very well defensively, because he throws very well, and he takes good routes. One system had him among the best OFers at holding runners. Larnach would be a massive improvement over Cave or Beckham.

He didn't cost the game no matter how much you may hate him, at worst he cost the Twins a tie and from there....
