Don't ignore the fact that today's pitchers have better training, diet and technique.  Arm just wasn't built to pitch.

The best diet in the world will not affect the arm, while if training is bette then they should also be mor durable.

Loss equals any gains.

I think the only way for Miranda to win is for Rodriguez to get hurt and Miranda to put up video game numbers the last six weeks.  4.1 > 1.1 bWar is a tough hill to climb.

My strong belief is that Rutschman in going to win this. Five AL rookies have more fWAR than Miranda, btw. Two already have 3 fWAR!

If Mahle is hurt, I'd like to see the Twins be as aggressive as Atlanta has been, and promote SWR into the rotation. No chance of that, of course, but one can hope. And, I get others won't agree. Not trying to convince anyone.

I would think Varland would be ahead of SWR in the promo list, to say nothing of Devin Smeltzer.

I agree for what it’s worth. Only other option would be Smeltzer at this point.

I disagree. Next starter up is Aaron Sanchez. He pitched well in his one try in the bigs with the Twins. I'm guessing he is the Mahle replacement. IF we need one. I'm hoping for the flu or something like that.

Fair take. I'd like him up in the bullpen....but fair take.

And Eddie was a infielder also till he got to the Majors

Eddie started as an OF, and then was shifted to second due to a black hole of MI prospects in the Twins system.  That experiment lasted for 2 years (2012 and 2013, and was then abandoned partway through 2014).

Wow, Pagan just doesn't have an out pitch. Dead straight fast ball only gets fouls, not swing and miss.

He has one of the highest swing and miss rates in all of baseball, and his fastball spin is in the 96th percentile, so this take is objectively wrong.

except our pitchers on the IL aren’t exactly fireballers

Trying to add the extra mph from 89 to 92 is just as stressful as going from 92 to 95 IMHO. Every pitch seems to be maximum effort., whether it is the fastball or breaking pitches. Interesting to me is that so many of the Twins' pitching injuries haven't been arm. Coulombe, Ober and Dobnak haven't had arm injuries and earlier Ryan, Archer and Gray (twice) spent IL time that was connected to their arms.
