I don't understand how pitchers are not aggressive with that guy.

I have to guess that the early "book" on Hicks is to let him get himself out, by not giving him anything to hit with two strikes. The last three games give some (SSS) evidence he's adjusted, and it may be a little while yet until the pitchers adjust too. Then I hope he adjusts again, and whacks the smack out of the balls they lay in there.

I've been pretty disappointed in Morneauzie so far. I was really hoping he'd be back to the very good, very dangerous hitter he used to be, and so far he doesn't look anything like that.

I'm kind of impressed that he can lay off some of those 2 strike breaking balls.

Justin started out well then has been scuffling the past 10 games. Hope it's just one of those things. Have they been facing more lefties than usual? He's still got that obnoxious L/R split.

Is it laying off them, or just not being able to hit and therefor not swinging the bat? Pretty stupid to me that he keeps getting walked.

I've thought the same thing. You don't get the same excitement when he comes up with guys on base like you used to. More the slight fear he is going to jut swing really hard and just sky a pop up or strike out on junk out of the zone.

Over the course of a season, the difference between players with the most/fewest walks is greater for batters than for pitchers. And through the minors batting-eye has always been part of Hicks's game. No reason to think he's not adjusting to what major league pitchers are capable of showing him on 1-2 and 2-2 and even 3-2.

Alright, let's get some runs.

Bottle that mojo, we might need some more.

Am I right that all four of the first batters of the inning swung at the first pitch? Somebody did some scouting...

I was in an Irish pub in Rome last week, and ran into a guy wearing a Torii Hunter Twins jersey. He was from Woodbury, and a guy I used to play high school baseball and football against when he went to Eden Prairie. Small world.

Correia gives up one home run per every nine innings pitched' date=' year-in and year-out over the past nine years. You can almost set your clock to it. Let's just hope it's a solo job today, because I think he could go nine.

He could go nine, but depending on the score, I bet Gardy wants to get some work for the pen.
