Game Thread: Twins @ White Sox, 7/6/22 @ 1:10PM CT

Lazy flight ball out and you get one run with bases loaded a little league defensive play by Sox. Once again, you can step on the opponents throat and we let them up to breathe.  We will lose more than we win with lack of clutch hitting

Byron Buxton, he of a career .304 BABIP, is at only .214 so far this year.  No matter how different his hitting approach from past seasons, significant regression to the mean should occur going forward, which would be huge down the stretch.  Other perspectives on this are welcome.

Good comment, hopeful, and no additional perspective to add.

but in the spirit of the game thread and impending sweep of the Southsiders, I did make you this:

Terrible PA by Gordon.  Lynn is struggling with his command, he just had to come back out, and you swing at a bad 2-0 pitch.  Make him work for crying out loud.

When Gordon thinks he can be a full-time member of Bomba squad, you get lazy fly balls

MLB gameday is confused, and so am I since I just checked in. What happened?

Are you ... Tony LaRussa?

.

Based juiced, 1 out. Kirilloff taps ground ball towards Anderson in the shift. Anderson "tags" Kepler going by (with his glove which doesn't contain thr ball) and throws to 1st completing DP.

Twins challenge, overturned. 1-0 Twins.

Twins had the bases loaded, and Kiriloff hit a tapper to Anderson who was shifted to the right of second.  Anderson, instead of throwing to second (since his momentum was coming towards home), attempted to tag Kepler, and then throw to first to complete the inning ending DP.  However, Anderson removed the ball from his glove prior to tagging Kepler with the glove, which means no tag out was recorded.  So the Twins got the run, were awarded runners on second and third, and Kiriloff was forced out at first.

Kepler...what the ?

Just stop running. No GIDP. Run scores.

Edit: we got lucky.

I don’t know what Kepler was thinking. Definitely should have stopped and then the worst that could happen would be a force out. Maybe he thought he could get past Anderson.

Good morning Twins fans and welcome back to another Game Thread extravaganza! The mighty Minnesota Twins take on the Chicago White Sox this afternoon and will try to go for the sweep in Chicago. After last nights exciting win and great pitching performance from Winder, Joe Ryan will take the mound today against former Twin and now White Sox starting pitcher Lance Lynn.

Joe Ryan is having a great year so far. Heading into today's game Ryan brings with him a 6-3 record with a 3.00 ERA.  Lynn on the other hand has been less exciting with a 1-1 record and a 4.50 ERA. Minnesota now has a 4.5 game lead over Cleveland and a 6.5 game lead over the third place White Sox heading into todays matchup.

This series has been fun to watch! We've seen a triple play, multiple home runs and some decent pitching and defense from Minnesota. I'm expecting more excitement today...Speaking of excitement, I'll be listening to the game on the radio today while at work. I must be old school but I still love to listen to baseball games on the radio. I think that is a trait for only the die hard baseball fans.

Wether you are watching on TV or listening via radio, please don't hesitate to participate in today's game thread!
