I think that offer falls way short. The Twins don’t have anyone to match Marte.

If they match BTV it will take Larnach, Lewis, Woods-Richardson and Balazovic. That still wouldn’t be enough because though the value is the same the Mariners offer has the better headliner. Replace Balazovic with Rodriguez and I think Castillo is a Twin.

Reds don't give up Castillo with only one arm coming back...

If that is the cost and according to one source the Yankee's nearly matched it I think the Twins are out of the difference making starters market.  We need Lewis to be our shortstop at some point next year and there is only Palacios left as an option for that spot.  I just can't see emptying the farm given how many holes this team still has.

I don't think Blake Snell is the answer so to me it seems like plan B is get at least two decent relief arms and go from there.  Unless the prices are coming down I just don't see how this makes sense for this team at this time either

100%

I just don't understand Colorado AT ALL. Re-signing a 37yo closer for when you might compete again? I'm not sure what confuses me more, their wanting to hold on to Bard, or Bard wanting to stick around.

I actually thought German Marauez, 27yo with some stuff and some previous good results, might be a perfect under the radar trade option for the Twins. I'd like to see him away from Coors Field, and with a better run organization, and see what he might do. And the Twins have depth to offer the Rockies a decent package that would include a couple interesting arms to make the deal. Now, do you even pick up the phone?

Seattle got a little under a year and a half for a very good SP. They are a good team fighting for a WC. Good for them. But I just can't buy in to what they sold, were we to look at a similar package from the Twins. Looks like an "all in" buy that scares me.

Does BTV take into account current values? Lewis with a second knee surgery, Larnach with a long injury and recovery, Richardson out for the year with possible long-run inmplications, and Balazovic falling apart?

SWR started in Wichita yesterday.  So, he's not out for the year.

Right, I was thinking of Rodriguez. My question still stands, though- I don't see that package as worth anything like what it was worth 2 or 3 months ago.

A rookie? That's going to cost something legit even if he is 28. Their number seven prospect, a legit AAA starter.

I was jealous until I saw he was a side-armer. Seems like in today's MLB, 95% of side-arm pitchers come up and light the world on fire until the gimmick wears off at which time they regularly get their clocks cleaned.

And apparently, the Padres are acquiring Josh Hader from the Brewers... Seems like a strange move for Milwaukee, depending on the return.

Taylor Rogers is part of the return:

Wow. Rogers and Lamet seem like damaged goods and the two minor leaguers they got have never been top 100 players on any prospect list.

Agreed. It seems fair given the RP is 28......I'd take that deal on both sides every day.

It is a Rays type move for sure. If they let Rogers get more rest.....it might work out for them even this year.

And it was likely to happen in the offseason anyway. He's getting expensive.

I was always hoping for the Twins to get their hands on Lamet too. He seems like a guy that may have been mismanaged in SD. I could see him turning the corner in Milwaukee.

Won't help SD's well known salary cap issue next year. Maybe Blake Snell will be available. I'd take him if the Pohlad's are willing to eat the salary.

Damn, I would have let San Diego have Pagán for that
