2022 Vikings Off-Season Thread

Vikings pick is coming up, my draft board:

ED George Karlaftis
QB Malik Willis
HB Breece Hall
LB Nakobe Dean
S Lewis Cine
S Daxton Hill
CB Kyler Gordon

CBs Gordon or Booth Jr make a lot of sense, as does Karlaftis. But man, the upside of Willis... it's hard to believe he's still on the board.

I’m not going to bed over the moon about day 1 but I’ll trust the process and see what happens tomorrow. Still lots of good players available at 34. If we didn’t take Willis there at 32 I think we’re out of the running for a QB. Unless it’s stupid value like Ridder or someone available in the 4th round.

I like that he's a sure tackler, I like his life story, I like that he went to Georgia. I think he also is a good fit with Smith getting old in the tooth (although Hamilton would have too).

I think the trade wasn't great and I think we had some room to move up to grab a guy but Cine is a solid pick and we have the second pick tomorrow. So we will just have to wait.

Who is everyone hoping for at 34? Obajo, Dean, Booth would all seem to be obvious picks.

Booth or Gordon would be nice. Dean or the Ojabo home-run swing.

Dealing back and adding another top 80 pick ain't all bad either.  This draft is rich on Day 2.

After more thought, Levi, the Marquise Brown is looking really bad for the Cardinals. A 1st for 2 years of Brown, when Adams/Brown got a 1st? Amari Cooper went for a 5th! The Cardinals are stacked at WR (Hopkins, Brown, Green, Moore), but they've got a lot of other holes that aren't getting filled. The PFF guys lost their minds when they saw the trade and slammed it hard.

It was purely to placate Murray.

The Hollywood Brown trade was so bad, especially after it came out that Brown was already asking for a trade. Seems like a 3rd for Brown would have been pushing it.

But to be fair to AZ, Hollywood Brown has been in a flat out awful offense for a receiver, there's likely room for him to grow. And honestly, after looking at the stats of both Hollywood and AJ, AJ hasn't put up nearly the numbers I assumed he had. Also, Hollywood has stayed healthy the last two years while AJ keeps missing time. There's probably less of a talent and value gap between the two than what has been made out.

The Hollywood Brown trade also appears to have pissed off Lamar Jackson. So that could be a developing story over the next year…

Ha, maybe that was an enthusiastic WTF?

Well that should be fun to watch, particularly since he's already shown next to no desire to sign an extension.

I'd imagine he's not happy with his top WRs being Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, and James Proche. At least he has Andrews at TE.

I also wonder what Rodgers thinks about his sorry squad, with Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins, and Randall Cobb as his top WRs. Plus only having Tonyan at TE and he's not that great and coming off an ACL tear.

And for those wondering, the top free agent WRs on the market: Odell Beckham (ACL tear), Jarvis Landry, Will Fuller, Julio Jones, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, Keelan Cole. Lots of older guys with injury woes, but I'd try to get Landry if you can get him to come off his $15M a year asking price.

I'm sure you're right. But I'd be quite happy if they were able to trade both 3rds to get another top 2nd round pick and come out with two of Dean, Obajo, or Booth. I'm sure that's a waste of draft capital and I don't know enough to know I'm wrong. But that seems like a really strong draft to me, regardless of what happens after that.

I would be good with that too.  Trading up is fine by me if the end result is that we walk away with three impact defenders.

My plan for 34…

I’d be making calls with Seattle (41) or Atlanta (43) and see if a trade down is possible to recoup the lost 4th round pick that Rick traded away.

If we stick at 34 I’d go with the high risk high reward play of Ojabo.

I'm not interested in a 4th.....Give me another 3rd or a 2nd next year to move.....

I'd prefer Dean.  If not him and we trade down then I'd love to move into the 40s as well, recoup a pick around 90-100, then use that pick and 66 to jump up into the 50s.
