My draft board right now:
QB Malik Willis
LB Nakobe Dean
DT Travis Jones
LB Chad Muma
LB Leo Chenal
ED Drake Jackson
QB Desmond Ridder
QB Matt Corral
QB Sam Howell

The WRs that are still left:
Jalen Tolbert
Calvin Austin III
Khalil Shakir
Romeo Doubs
Bo Melton
David Bell

The well is pretty dry after the first couple WRs...

Give me Doubs. Small school receivers always fall because of the level of competition, but that’s a poor judgment for that position. Tyreek Hill and Cooper Krupp might do just fine.

We have 5 picks left, I would like a WR, RB, DL, LB, and CB with those picks.  Ty Chandler and Pierre Strong are guys I dig at RB.  Shakir and Doubs at WR.  (Roberson too if he is fully recovered)   Winfrey and Uwazurike at DL.  Brandon Smith, Beavers, and Clark at LB.  Armour-Davis and Bryant at CB.

I’d be fine if they only used three of those picks. Use the 7th and a 6th to move up. UDFAs and 7th round picks are pretty much the same thing, and the team didn’t get anyone on the DL yesterday which I always thought was the biggest need.

Wow, already 3 trades in the 4th round and two trade-downs. Are we sure we actually fired Spielman?

I do like Evans in the 4th round, the other CBs left are veeeery raw. Most of Levi's guys are gone, and there's still a handful of guys I like - I'd love Austin III to give us some WR depth.

Eh, I don't love this class, but I think Cine and Booth will be good players. I just don't like moving so far down without the right compensation and giving up on a blue chip player at #12 - most other years, we'd get a future 1st for moving down that far. Evans is the one Day 3 guy I really like, the rest are fliers.

So we walked away with a new starter at S, CB, RG, and WLB.....all before pick 70.  Had you told me that predraft I'd have been excited.  But it's hard to shake the feeling we get 75 cents on the dollar for all our trades.

Just as a small example...had we not had to deal 46 or 77 that scenario above is much better.  No 46 trade?  We get Booth for far less.  No 77 trade?  We walk away with Raimann, Leal, Dean, Travis or Marcus Jones.  Woof.

That green bay trade was a steal for Minnesota. They got four starters in your mind, and you aren't happy?

Now we have names to track instead of slot numbers.

I like the Vikings' side of that a lot more than the other two sides. Otomewo is the only 1 I don't think makes the team with certainty. The others all do, and the first two are starters out of the box. I think you are looking at 4 starters, possibly 5, next year.

While I'd assume Sine is a day one starter, I don't know that it's guaranteed he'll beat out Bynum; Bynum looked kind of promising last year. If Booth is healthy, and he has had issues on that front, he'll likely be at worst the nickel, but I'm not sure anyone other than Ingram has the inside track to starting.

It still just seems blasphemous to trade down 20 spots with a division rival and NOT come away with their 1st rounder the following year. It's Detroit, so you know you'll get your shot at a franchise QB should one be draftable next year.

It's hard to see them trade within the division. This is the Vikings we're talking about; Jameson Williams and Christian Watson will probably end up being the top two vote getters for Offensive ROY.

Sure, but if the Vikes don't deal with GB, someone else does. ....I'd rather the Vikes get the good end of that deal, than someone else.

Well I'm only saying this from the perspective of historical organizational pratfalls, but the Packers wouldn't have gotten the receiver they wanted had the Vikings kept the pick selected him themselves.

Sure. They wouldn't have Booth then. The Vikings need some young defensive players.....imo.

I wanted defensive players, though mostly front seven players. And while Booth seems like good value where they got him, I was saying well before the draft that I didn't like Stingley or Booth, as CBs and WRs are the one position you don't want injury prone players.

But I also do like the big wideouts, so prior to the draft Pickens, Watson and Burks were the three second tier receivers I had my eyes on if the Vikings went offense in the second round. Maybe GB would have still traded up for Pickens, but most people had Watson as the top WR left at that 34th spot.

And I know I have 40 years of animosity built up for Green Bay while the new GM likely has none, but if they called me looking to trade up, the first (unreasonable) thought that comes to my mind is, "Screw them, I'm taking their guy whether I want him or not."

I like Bynum, but he's small.  Thing about Cine is that he helps with the run defense as well, much moreso than Bynum.  It's also possible Bynum works out of the slot or inside coverage positions out of 6 DB formations.  Even better....the Vikings could conceivable go 4-1-6 or 4-0-7 with the group they have right now.

I would love a lot less LBers on the field in on 3rd down.....

Here's the latest depth chart I have for the Vikings:

1735215330_VDC5-11-22.png.a9714fe115f460f18f076f27df1f86bd.png

The defense has some guesswork with where we think players are going to play, but others have similar projections, as seen below. I kept the rookies behind anybody who's played a significant amount of snaps, so expect the likes of Cine and Booth to get bumped up in training camp.

They've definitely got to get some TE depth, and probably another rotational guy for the DL.
