C'mon Shoe just get outta the 5th tied please.

This walk just now puts two on base. This is exactly the type of pitching that has been killing the Twins all year. Instead of putting a team away, a pitcher walks a guy with 2 outs and now if the Sox get a big hit the Twins could be down by a few.

That do?

I don't see how the Twins can put Shoemaker out there for the 6th and expect to win.

I also don't see any other attractive options.

We're watching a microcosm of the Twins pitching problems play out in real time here as we speak.

Normally I think you pull Shoemaker. Under these circumstances, I think you send him out for the 6th until (if) there is a baserunner.

Well that didn't take long!

100% agreed, this is when Rocco would normally pull him, but since the pen's been so bad, he must keep him in. And he'll likely give up at least a run here...

Rocco Baldelli: always playing for tomorrow, never for today.

He's always willing to lose today just to save some guys for tomorrow. Day after day we see this stuff.

Once you see a guy like Shoe is no longer competitive, you have to pull him. Rocco's always trying to get *one more guy*.

Huh? Rocco always get accused of pulling his starters early, and rarely keeping them out there too long.

That was the worst pitched 2 run, 6 inning outing I've ever seen. Smoke and mirrors to the max. That start probably buys him another start (or 2 or 3), but it really shouldn't

Right, I forget that this counts as a quality start. Of course, the offense being bad plays a factor here, as this wouldn't seem so bad if we had scored a couple more runs.

I disagree with this.  Rocco consistently runs his best bullpen pitchers into the ground because he pitches them any time it's a close game.  He continues to pitch Rogers on back-to-back days despite the statistical reality that that is a bad idea.  He kept playing Buxton, even when Buxton was hurt, which may have contributed to the more serious injury.

Haven't really seen this mentioned anywhere...but Arraez has been horrible for the past month.
