Drafting a CB will definitely make A-Aron happy.

66 and 86 are roughly worth a pick in the 45 range. Something to watch for. I think a trade up is inevitable.

They could, but since they got an actual tackle so there doesn't still have to be a ton of OL shuffling, I don't know that there's a lot of guys at the top of the BPA lists that I like significantly better than than their counterparts.

If they'd missed on Darrisaw, I'd probably be looking for a trade up for someone like Jenkins or Radunz. But if they're going to look defense now, and I hope they do, there's still a lot of interesting looking guys.

At this point the trade up should be for a high end front 7 guy. 8 picks in 3 and 4 is too many for a 53 man roster.

Mission accomplished, and we've got plenty of ammo to move up into the 2nd round. I would want a DE, but after the major run on them at the end of the 1st round, there's not a lot of 4-3 rushers worth a 2nd left. Maybe G Wyatt Davis?

Here's who's left on my board:

G Wyatt Davis and ED Carlos Basham would be two guys to move up for... but I don't see much else for those two positions. C Creed Humphrey is a stud, though. The run on DEs was a surprise, with Rousseau, Turner, and Tryon going very fast, not leaving much left for 4-3 DEs.

Biggest needs left for this team--a couple more OL, and hopefully a third wide receiver.  Defense should only be addressed after those needs are met--Zimmer might have as many as 9 defensive starters next year on non-rookie contracts, 7 of which are for big money/multiple years.  If Zimmer can't coach that amount of defensive investment into something average at worst, he should be fired.

I’m mostly with you. Defense shouldn’t be the main focus unless the value is too good to pass up. We still need some help with pass rush. Linebacker and secondary would be luxury picks to fill in future openings.

I don’t know anything about the safeties on Dan’s big board. If they’re roaming center field types and create turnovers we could use that. Harry the Hitman’s over 30, and the other guy they signed is a 1 year deal.

I'm actually hoping we trade back into the second round to get a defensive lineman. We certainly have enough picks in the 3rd and 4th rd to make moves. And if we just sit on those picks, we'll have enough darts to maybe find a diamond in the rough. Should be a fun day.

Agreed--if there's huge value, that's fine.  Harrison's contract is up after this year, as is Wood's (as you mentioned), so they need to get a safety at some point they can try and develop.  Pass rush is also a need, especially if Hunter decides he wants a new contract.

In my mind though, this team is so close to being a top 3 offense.  If you can get a solid guard, and a receiver who is better than Beebe/Johnson, you can create nightmares for opposing defenses with a Jefferson/Thielen/Cook/Smith/WR3 set.  With a solid OL, you can pick teams apart; run on them if they go nickel, pass on them if they don't.

Our biggest need now, by a country mile, is a pass rusher.  I don't know if we've forgotten, but QBs were going untouched and operating with freedom for most of the season.  Yeah, Hunter is coming back, but he's coming back from a mystery neck injury.  This team needs to add juice to the pass rush, every other need is far below that IMO.

Ossai, Ojulari, Basham - if one of them slips to around 50 we need to move up and add them.

After that, I'm not in favor of Bradbury to guard.  He has enough trouble holding up when he's mostly uncovered.  He's just not strong enough yet for that shift.  Brady Christensen would be a good convert.  Wyatt Davis can play.  Kendell Green.  They'll have options there.  Same with a stud 3rd WR, the draft is deep in that range.

But not until the pass rush is fixed.  All the veterans in the secondary and other places won't matter if you can't push the QB.

I agree DL is the biggest need now. As much as I've railed that Zimmer succeeds (in terms of being a "genius")  due to high picks at DB, they need more DB too....On O? Another OL and WR would be good, but if Darrisaw is legit, I'd spend most of the rest of this draft on DL, DB, WR types. Maybe a really fast LB/DB hybrid if there is one.

We have 8 picks (I think) between the 3rd and 4th. I'm with Mike - you need to come away with a DE, a DB, an OL, and a WR. LB would be my next choice too.

It’s 4 3rds and 3 4ths. After they missed out on Lawson and Hendrickson in FA, I think they know DE is a big need.
