Back to back double headers really suck. Odds are we leave town with a split instead of an optimistic sweep. It's really going to screw our pitching staff against the upcoming white hot White Sox series. Bad Moon Arising

Why would playing two double headers instead of four single games benefit the Tigers? I guess I could see a slight shift in the odds due to playing fewer innings, but it still seems like a bit of a stretch to assume it would change a sweep into a split...

Ummm... genuine question.

Why is Kepler batting 8th? Even if he is slumping, I'm sure he's still better than Vargas, Adrianza, and Gonzalez. Am i missing something?

The lineup as posted does seem like one of those "drawn out of a hat" lineups...

Perhaps...

Just the pitcher we are facing?

Or if it results in 1 less at bat, 'twill be just that little bit kinder on his foot?

or maybe today 8 is his lucky number?

I shall consult the bones!

(the bones tell me nothing)

Not sure why, but this makes me think of the sweet condensation of justice.
one of the empanelled might call it...
"did jury" dew.

I would just like to take the time to thank you for all of your confounding yet delightful wordplay. It reminds me that I shouldn't be taking the game of baseball so seriously.

Looks like they have officially postponed. Wouldn't you know this would happen after they chose not to get a game in last night. Some kind of karma there...

Or, just the weather.

Mother Nature getting in her social justice boycott today.  She had to one-up the team's Thursday action and get a 2-fer in.   Let's play 2x2!    The Twins are shaving 8 innings off what they have to play  4 7 inning games instead of the original 4 9 inning games.  Be interesting to see how they approach the games pitching-wise. If the starters can go deep hopefully it won't impact the bullpen too much but will impact the rotation going into next week unless they use 1 or 2 bullpen games in the double-headers.

If it rains tomorrow, they can just play a hydra-header Sunday.

Ah, some modern baseball equivalent to Ol' Harryhausen's Jason and thr Argonauts.

To end it, not only must Twins bullpen pitch their heads off, but we need some red hot gloves to effect a "caught-yer-flies" strategy and prevent the game from growing back...

(sorry that was ssoo clumbsy)

And some day i may reuse the Fezzig game thread idea...

But it is dangerous.

I am so tempted to just start rhyming what anyone else said if they didn't rhyme, but i could see that way led to... a insanity? a banning? getting old fast at the least. May i never find out where it would lead!

Thanks all for a little company.

Gonna celebrate Fraggle Friday. I promised to finish watching the original series with a friend before they move cross country next week. We are half way through the final dvd set (which i think means early in the 5th season as they don't quite line up) so it is inherently possible.

How much time between games, in these double headers?

Suppose Game One is sufficiently not-close, and a pitcher capable of multi-innings happens to be the game finisher? Is it feasible to let him pitch an inning or two of Game Two, serving as Opener, if he's unlikely to be available for the next day's double header anyway?

/ edit - oops, sorry, this isn't about the weather, except to the extent that weather has brought the situation to us
