Tonight's Game Postponed

So give them a loss due to forfeit. No reason not to play.

I agree with this. They would be making a sacrifice for their beliefs. I guess it would depend on the Tigers. If they don't want to play, you can't really have both teams take a loss I guess. It probably should go down as a non-game then for the teams. Definitely should not be made up in any wise.

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but there are some pretty important, dare I say historical events going on in the United States right now. Players in all sports are using their power to send a message. Good for them. I can survive a night without them entertaining the masses.

Maybe people will rediscover books.

Padres/Mariners is still on if you have MLB TV.

Serious question--what message are they sending, and what do they realistically and quantifiably hope to achieve?

The game continued through 2 World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, the LA and Watts riots, 9/11 and several other "historical events". Professional athletes consider themselves too important these days. They are men getting paid to play kids games. If they want to use their "power" to send a message, then do like Ted Williams, Bob Feller, Stan Musial, Pat Tillman, Jimmy Stewart, Audie Murphy and many others did, be proactive and go fight for your cause. Today's athletes can't even adhere to simple rules (Plesac & Clevinger) or become what they supposedly stand against (Montrzel Harrell). And then there's Bubba Wallace....  Play ball and lets forget about 2020 for a few hours

If 2020 has shown me anything, it's that, while I missed baseball from april-july, I found plenty of other things to do to fill the void. And as much as I love the game, it really wasn't all that bad. Developed some new hobbies. I don't know why it's such an absurd notion to expect to tune into a ball game and have 3 hours devoid of politics and preaching. Don't we have enough politics thrown at us from every direction, every day? Sports are ENTERTAINMENT, and I don't consume things that fail to entertain me. These athletes, and sports in general, are not essential to my living a happy life. God bless them for taking a stand, but if sports are going to be the next platform to succumb to the social justice/cause movement, I may be out. At least when the twins stink again ;)

I just read the A's players statement, and it's just a bunch of platitudes.  If these players are trying to use their position of power to impact change, how about presenting a solution instead of just regurgitating the problems in an unoriginal statement?

*****Moderator Note*****

Keep this civil and on topic. Do not demean those that support or disagree with this decision. The Twins and Tigers both decided to sit out today to protest; if that bothers or pleases you to the degree that you can't resist from belittling them, other posters or now public figures, please refrain from posting.
