Vikes vs Packers

Don't worry man, you've still got at least one more year to watch this wasted, reach of a pick. Meanwhile the line is giving him a ****-load of time, picking up the blitz well, Peterson is a beast, and the defense is holding their own.....all he had to be was competent and we could've stolen this one.

Please Vikings fans, start the outcry. Let the franchise know it's ok to admit the mistake and move on. We're wasting some elite talent waiting to get the most important position in all of sports figured out.

Definitely one of his worst games at QB, but the fact he also jumped offsides 5 times, missed a field goal, couldn't get open to catch a pass, and let the Pack go on an eleven minute drive in the fourth quarter make him the worst player ever.

In the spirit of your post - this is an excellent point if you ignore the fact that he twice threw interceptions in prime scoring areas, missed several open players with terrible underthrows, never set his feet for a throw the whole day, had a player give him 200 yards on the ground and constant 9 man fronts, and several his completed throws were off-target and took borderline heroic efforts to avoid further interceptions. That and the defense held their own with the best QB in the league.

In other words, your post is stupid excuse making.

My point was this team has a lot of other problems, too. He's one of them right now for sure, and with a passing game they win, but there are plenty of ways for this team to lose right now.

Quarterbacking lost us this game. It has resulted in other losses this year and should've lost us several others. Yes, the WR are not good, but Ponder is a large part of that as well. This is on him, stop making excuses.

IMO, the problem with excuses is when they focus on one element/player when a lot of other areas are lacking. I personally would have liked to see Webb this game. Heck, at this point, I wouldn't mind any other quarterback because it would make things more clear as to how much is the quarterback and how much is about other elements of the passing game.

I point out the offsides because they were also ridiculous. A couple of times, they allowed third downs to become more manageable and then beconverted, leading to a score. With regard to the receivers, Aikman even made a comment that it would be hard for any quarterback to make them look good, and he also criticized the exact same throws that you mentioned (and I agree with). I mentioned the missed field goal, but Walsh has actually been one of the few bright spots besides Peterson this season.

So, I can agree that Ponder cost them the game, but there are plenty of issues with this team that even changing a QB isn't going to fix.

You killed the scarecrow. No one was arguing the rest of the team is flawless.

Also I am going to disagree with Alex, this team has plenty of issues outside of QB play, but so does most every other team in the playoff hunt. If you put even a mediocre QB back there today, the Vikings most likely win the game. If you have an average QB we go at least 10-6 with this supporting cast/defense/special teams.

Ponder is costing us games left and right, as is Musgrave.

yeah, if we had Alex Smith, we'd be 8-4 right now at least... the question I have is when does Webb get a shot? At the very least, it would be nice to see him get an extended look.

Is Webb really the answer though? Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him play as well but I think there is a reason why he hasn't seen the field this year.

There really was no reason for the Vikes not to have a legit back up this year with such a question mark at starting QB.

Ugh, this has been so frustrating to waste Petersons best year yet. Maybe this will get Peterson to start bitching a bit to ownership about putting a real team around him. I like Fraiser, or want to like him because I think he has a good grasp on the defense, but maybe its time to think about courting a guy like Gruden to come coach the team.

Either way, Musgrave. HAS. TO. GO. And in addition at the very least they need to bring in someone who at least has a 50/50 shot to beat out Ponder for the starting gig in 2013. Alex Smith, Michael Vick or Matt Flynn at the very least.

I have watched football for a lot of years, so many that I was glued to the TV on Thanksgiving when OJ Simpson was considered the best player in the NFL. Add a few hundred High School and College games and that is a lot of football. Ponder's performance is probally the single worst I have ever seen in nearly 40 years of watching the game and that is sugar coating it.

My appolagies to Trent Dilfer, Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith, I actually thought Ponder could reach the level to be in the conversation of which you would rather have.

He belongs with Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russell with maybe Akili Smith throwed in.

Absolutly awfull. I only hope he plays that bad for the rest of the season so there is no doubt and we can move as high as 6 wins allows in the draft. Here's to rooting for all hte 5 win teams to win a couple more.

I don't see why Musgrave hasn't gotten Webb into the action. Obviously he's not a long-term answer either but this team could still steal a playoff spot. They need a shot in the arm from someone. Maybe bring him in as a wideout and call a few end-arounds with the option to throw. We did that with Moss all the time back in the day to great effect and he threw like a girl.

We will never know if the guy never gets a shot at it... That's my two cents...

On the bright side, AP needs 140 yards/game to hit 2000.
