Lineup:

Max Kepler (L) RF
Jorge Polanco (S) SS
Eddie Rosario (L) DH
Mitch Garver ® C
Marwin Gonzalez (S) 1B
Jonathan Schoop ® 2B
Jake Cave (L) LF
Ehire Adrianza (S) 3B
Byron Buxton ® CF

Notsure I quite understand this lineup. Cron has been hitting the ball well lately, Cruz is one of our most consistent hitters, and Ehire just can't hit.

Yeah, it's weird. Looks like he's padding the lineup with as many lefties as possible. Not the move I would have made, but we'll see how it plays.

It could be nothing more complicated than the crack analytics team pulling up career records against Verlander, and Rocco going with whoever has had the most succ-... least failure against this stud pitcher. Well, never mind, nobody except Cruz has that much of a track record to base anything on. But, Analytics. I bet they analyzed stuff.

And they went heavy on lefties (or switch hitters) against a good righty. Analytics.

Except... Castro, lefty though he is, has a miserable 1-for-19 records against Verlander. He's the only exception. I believe. Analytics. It's a 3 man bench and the other two are righties.

On the 40-man, Wade, Gordon and Arraez are all lefties but not in town at this time. Analytics. :)

They were able to analyze the lack of data and come away with some interesting conclusions about it, I’m sure.

Cruz, so far this year, only has 2 days/games of just one hit. He either gets multiple hits in a game (8 games).... or no hits at all (11 games) the other days.

Gonzalez and Adrianza. Both in the same game. Damn. I guess that means or bench looks better.

A few things:

1.) I will be at Target Field for the games on Wednesday and Thursday this week. I'm flying in from Pittsburgh. Can't wait!

2.) This is going to be a VERY difficult week for the Twins. 4 with the Astros and 3 at Yankee Stadium. Meanwhile, Cleveland has off-days Today and Thursday, and have a two-game set in Miami and a three-game set with the M's at Progressive Field. FiveThirtyEight's projections are not kind for the Twins this week. However...

3.) FiveThirtyEight has the Twins at a 60% chance to make the playoffs. Cleveland is still the runaway favorites to win the Central, but given the surprising meltdown in Boston, the mediocrity of the A's, the poor start by the Angels, and the likelihood of unsustainable success by Seattle, grabbing that 2nd Wild Card Spot is very much within reach. I know it's early, but gotta dream big, amiright!?

Nice to hear, but I'd much rather step on Cleveland's throat here and now and play one of those wild carders in the first round. Own it, baby.
