Article: Twins Trade Lance Lynn to Yankees

Recommended Posts

I didnt take it well on Friday.  and i still think someone needs to make some Falvine I quit or I give up shirts.  We Falvine gave up in 2017 even though we won the Wild Card.  We gave up in 2018 and traded lots of player.  We got a head start on giving up in 2019 by trading one of our best relievers too.

but at this point i guess its about the race to the bottom.  Its too bad we had that run right before the all star break as now we really gotta tank to get a good draft slot next season.  We have lots of teams to pass on our way to the bottom.  Luckily giving up is way easier than actually trying and failing.

The 2017 draft appears to be very strong. We were the first team in baseball history to make the playoffs after losing 100 games in 2017. The 2017/2018 off-season was the best in franchise history and this is our best trade deadline ever.

This hopefully opens up a rotation spot for Romero or Gonsalves for the rest of the season. Addition by subtraction.

It's already been announced that Mejia will get Lynn's next start. I imagine that if he does well, he'll stay there, but who knows. But there is an open roster spot on the 25-man ... wonder when we'll hear who fills that? Maybe May comes up?

I like this trade and all of them we've made so far and hoping for about 4-5 more today. Back at the start of the season, I never dreamed we'd be sellers at the deadline. I thought the players added by our front office in the off-season made us a lock for the postseason this year. The front office did their job--the players acquired and our coaching staff didn't do theirs.

The front office is now cleaning up the mess it has become and I applaud them. We are not sure of the quality we got, but now we have the quantity to pick up some quality players in trades after the season. I'm not ready to write off '19 yet unless we find out for sure if Buxton and Sano (Buckno) are the mediocrities that showed up this year. Have them spend an offseason working out with Berrios and maybe, just maybe, they regain their confidence and chisel their bodies enough to avoid injuries. We have lots of question marks in Kepler, Polanco, Garver, et al, but none more huge than Buckno.

I'll admit I'm not smarter than the FO, but when you have the first overall draft pick, shouldn't you have a strong draft?  Didn't the Twins have about the same record last year and the FO sold off instead of adding?  Kind of hard to give them a lot of credit for last years run if they were selling at the deadline.

If you have a great offseason, shouldn't you have an improved record?  As far as the best trade deadline deal, give me the Shannon Stewart deal.  Quality over quantity any time.

When you get class A players, you will need time to evaluate the trades, so we'll have to wait to see if these are good trades.  I have no problem with the FO making these moves, just seems like we have a very low bar for the FO.  Just make moves any moves.

I guess I don't understand what the high bar would be. Season is over, they are getting value from it where they can. Ryan never had this kind of activity after a season like this. They are doing the right thing.

My complaint with the front office is not with the off-season as it was a good one.  but Terry Ryan also had good off-seasons or good but incomplete ones or good but didn't get the one thing we know we need....

My complaint is that the front office didn't do Jack Schitt when all the holes happened in our lineup at one time.  we had a few holes covered and then had 2 or 3 when we could have used and even got reinforcements at low costs.  There were 2 bats released for nothing including Hanley Ramirez and we could have acquired a C like Chiniros from Texas for a prospect.  oooohhh a prospect and paying someone league minimum.  That is such a high cost to go for it.  That would have boosted morale and likely had a better affect for the clubhouse and improved the lineup enough to win a few more games.  but the front office did nothing.  Its even more frustrating when they waited a few weeks and still did nothing when the opportunities were there.  They could have still sold if we didn't catch up.

I am more upset by their lack of in season management and their willingness to just give up on the season.  By giving up so easily it defeats the point of playing out the season.  We now know that if the Twins are 5 games back we should stop going to games because they are gonna sell.   Waive the white flag...... Falvine is ready to give up and call it a season and continue making us a farm club for the winning teams.

Yay!!!!!!
