Now that we have the pleasantries aside, it's time to move on. We have another baseball game today in which we hope our favorite 9 can figure this game out and get we, the fans, a W!

Yes, it's been a very puzzling year but, hey, we're still able to watch the best game every invented. Granted, our team may not be putting their best foot forward these days, but, still, they are our team. With that, I'll toss in a metal interlude just because.

With that, I'll leave you with these random thoughts:

Some random observations from last night;

 

1. Balks can be overturned?

2. Molitor knows how to get ejected?

3. Gibson may not have had the best results last night, but, by golly, he really pitched his guts out.

4. Sox. Uggh. Sox. 

5. Morneau played for the Sox at one time. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.

If you're advocating re-signing Mauer, take note that with the season spiraling out of control, on a day game after just two consecutive night games (and prior to that an off day on Monday), Mauer's once again not in the lineup.

 

Say what you will about his production or lack thereof, but there can be no doubt he's a part time player at this point, at perhaps the least physically demanding position on the diamond.

I was one of those advocating re-signing Mauer--at the end of April when he had an OPS north of .800.  Now?  Let's put Mauer's 23 and Lynn's 12 towards signing Manny Machado.

I get swinging on 3-1, regardless of who's pitching.  But it's like Morneau said on the broadcast; on 3-1, narrow your strike zone to the size of a milk bottle.  Adrianza narrowed it to the size of a keg.
