I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to watch a Gibson start comfortably no matter how good he becomes. I don't want to be that way, it's just a sign of how jaded I've become where it comes to good Gibson runs.

87 pitches to get 13 outs, and Ryan Pressly is warming. I know times have changed, but for the love of god can we get 6+ from a starter?

Hitters are better, and pitchers -- all pitchers -- are needing to throw more pitches.

Also, I wish Molitor would let a guy pitch past 100 pitches every now and then

Heck, or even let a starter get TO 100 pitches. When was the last time one got there?

Haw haw-  took a little time to listen during that Smoak at bat-

Twins broadcast:  "It's a little jam shot that's going to fall in front of Kepler...  Just a little jam shot, and it's a tie game."

So, just for fun, I went to the BJ's cast, and rewound a bit:

"There's a line drive to the gap!  Tie game!"

Heh.....

So I think I told you all a couple days ago that my good buddy, who I'd meet at my regular neighborhood bar for a beer most afternoons after work, passed away. Sad.

Anywho, I took his wife to the Tucson Daily Star offices today, our local newspaper. She needed a ride there to place my buddy's obit in the paper. She's a nice enough lady, but monumentally, ah...frugal. To say the least.

We got there, and ambled up to the booth. I helped her along, as she's getting up there in age. She asked the young lady behind the window how much they charge for an obituary. "It's a dollar a word, ma'am," she replied.

Well, the new widow nearly fainted. "A dollar a word??" She fumed. "That's robbery! Very well, make it "Sal died."

The young lady was pretty amused, I could tell, but she managed to keep the smile off her face, if not the twinkle from her eye. "Well, I'm sorry, but there's also a five word minimum," she told us.

My friend Sal's wife nearly fainted. "But, but that will be FIVE dollars!"

"Yes ma'am, I'm afraid so."

Sal's wife was about to turn and walk away, but I guess she felt some sense of obligation to her late husband.

"Fine," she said, "Make it 'Sal died, Volvo for sale.'"
