Article: Game Thread: Twins @ Padres, 8/1@9:10pm CT

I was planning on going to Petco, a stadium I had not seen yet and been to a ballgame at,  but after attending the Dodger series and having to watch Colon, and then watching the Twins blow the games to a last place team in Oakland, being deprived of getting to see Buxton, watching Dozier pout  ......... I have convinced myself to see Petco some other time.

I may still go. It is a real sickness.

I went to Petco 3 years ago, caught a Rockies v. Padres afternoon getaway game there. If I recall correctly, Ian Kennedy had a no-hitter through 4 but then got roughed up and we left. Great little stadium. I like San Diego, nice town. I spent a couple weeks there and was thinking about moving to that city. Rent's expensive though, and most of the apartments available for an average person are pretty ramshackle.  I figured that since I work from home, I'd prefer to live in a place where I can get a nice place for cheap. San Diego is not that place. Also - they didn't teach me this growing up in Minnesota - the water is COLD AS BALLS most of the time. There are a few months in the summer where you can go in without a wetsuit, but it's Lake Superior-esque in April, I know that!

Petco is a pretty fun ballpark.  Inside, it feels like an open-air mall when you're walking along the concourse.  Since they always have great weather, it's easier to be open like that.  There's a 'beach' behind the RF fence where the falls are cushioned by those chasing BP home runs.  Sight lines are pretty good too, though, my seat in the first row of the upper deck gave me acrophobic anxiety so it took away a little from my enjoyment of the game I went to there.  Outside, the park is located in the perfect spot downtown -- close to all the bars.

The city is great, the people not so much (from my experience anyways).

Stayed in SD for a few days for a close friend's wedding there almost 20 years ago. Went out on the town with him and a bunch of his SD friends for his bachelor party and they were all great guys.

Probably just a coincidence that almost all of them had moved to CA for college or work from the Midwest. ;)

Eddie Rosario OPS's .816 against righties. Zach Granite OPS's .652 against righties. Naturally, with a righty on the mound, Granite is in the lineup.

Also, my iPhone tried to autocorrect Zach to Zachary. Siri hates informality.

It that new attention to advanced stats............

Since the OP put that picture on their it's fair game.  Who in their right mind would put their head or neck in a bears mouth?  That bear could pop his head off like a champagne cork in a heart beat.

Maybe he's a Padres fan and just doesn't are what the bear does.
