Quite honestly, they all scare me. And they have basically the same agenda. But Ryan could actually accomplish it as he knows what he's doing. But not causing WWIII would be a plus.

Yeah, but he's likely already tied too tightly to Trump's crazy agenda to shake loose, so him being competent and pushing the same schemes might be even more frightening.

I suspect Pence views Trump has a conduit to getting what he wants, nothing more. I think the two disagree on as much as they agree.

 

I think Pence would clean house if he had the opportunity. I've always viewed him as a guy who wants to push his far-right agenda but mostly do it through typical Washington channels, not outright lunacy.

 

You can argue whether that's better or worse but it's certainly different.

 

For example, I don't think Pence is on board with Trump's blatant (and not-so-subtley racist) nationalism. I don't get the feeling Pence is scared of brown people so much as he wants everyone to play by Christ's rules (as interpreted by Mike Pence).

Right, Pence may be awful but he's not scary in the way some of these other guys are.  You still know he'll put the country first, even as he pushes his agenda.  Most of us would never vote for him, but i think all of us would given a binary choice of Pence or Trump.

I am not sure Pence would have cared for Jesus.  I am pretty if Trump met and talked with him he would declare that Jesus is a Fake Christian.  I think Trump and Herod might have gotten along.

Maybe I am a little too biased and cynical about Trump, but I am not sure he would have asked her to set up a meeting or assumed she could set up a meeting with the Black Caucus if the reporter had been white.

Without a doubt. The exchange was all kinds of cringe ("do you know them?") but at the end of the day, she is has the guy on camera asking her to setup a meeting for this group that she is asking about. She also said she'd welcome the opportunity to cover the meeting, but setting it up- that's a bridge too far! Just felt like an opportunity might have been missed there.

 

Also I skimmed the letter and I didn't find anything about asking to setup a meeting.

Yeah, like you can't give Trump the benefit of the doubt at this point, he literally MEANS everything he says. This isn't a guy who has a W "brain fart" He (and Moreso Bannon) know what they are doing, they realize that anyone with half a ****ing brain in this country has zero faith in him at this point (his dissaproval rating will hit 75% by end of month) so the only shot they have is to hit their rabid fan base of white supremacists, hardliner baptist types, racists, islamophobes, etc to hope that THEY keep "fighting" for him via twitter etc.

Seriously the fact that literally nobody in the GOP Is calling him out on this **** is just embarrassing as all hell.

OK, beyond provoking a nuclear showdown/staredown with someone, my next biggest fear is that Trump declares martial law or something. If he and his lieutenants continue to (with a straight face) throw out whopper after whopper and now blame "the opposition" when not everyone falls in line, what is next?

 

Maybe it's only speaking to Fox and Christian networks, maybe it is passing laws or issuing executive orders to stop or cripple protests, maybe it is something else. Good lord, could we become a banana republic in less than four years?
