Trump: Trump companies have declared bankruptcy 4 times. I've cost my lenders billions of dollars while increasing my net worth. The country is 19 trillion dollars in debt. It needs someone like me to straighten out its mess.

Bankruptcy would likely straighten out the mess.  It would suck in the short term though.  Of course the currency would be trashed afterwards and land/gold owners will be the new wealthy class.

It wouldn't straighten out the "mess" it would be a disaster.

And the US is not a mess right now. There will be deficits for a long stretch, but that is certainly manageable if growth remains close to what it has been recently.

Its sad because you know there are one or two good ideas most of the candidates have. But they have to sandwich it into so much mumbo jumbo about the usual stuff in order to pacify their base that its impossible to tell who actually thinks what about anything. How much is crazy and how much is just said to remain relevant. What a **** show the Republican base is.

Kasich is sane and also not a monster. Bush is sane but is a monster (it's in his blood, after all). Christie is just sorta dumb or something, honestly. The rest . . . oh my god.

The term that sums up Christie the most would be: "fat slob"

His 9/11 line was so freaking cheesy. Though I think Rand Paul flipping him **** about hugging Obama was also cheesy.

What a bunch of clown shoes.

The big star of the night was Carly Fiorina.  Everyone in the later debate with the exception of Democrat plant Donald Trump did fine, and despite the fact Trump is now done he will continue to poll at 15 to 20% and Democrats will continue to pretend he is a Republican and the front runner.

Donald Trump should pray he stays as far away from Megyn Kelly questions for the rest of this debate.

He couldn't have bungled that any worse.

I guess I should've added that he should let the Megyn Kelly issue drop after the debate too. Good lord is this guy a train wreck.

Not that I really care how it turns out, but it's kind of odd nobody has anything to say about Hillary Clinton.  Must be really nice to be a Democrat.

I for one care about the a Republican field precisely because of her. I'm begging the Republicans to give me someone I prefer to her and yet, somehow, they look to be on a path towards being worse than her. Talk about failing to leap over a low bar.

just more proof he has no desire to actually run a legit campaign.

let's just assume the Republicans don't give you the candidate you want. The situation Clinton appears to be in isn't worthy of any discussion? I get if things go the way they might you would just vote biden, but this clearly isnt a republican witch hunt and yet nobody seems to care.

I'll probably vote for Kodos if the Republicans can't offer a lesser evil.

Given the options of the current Republican field and Hillary, I'm voting Mickey Mouse. Has nothing to do with a "witch hunt", it has to do with an entire field of options (from either side, really) that I do not want to see at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Yes, this. I don't know if I'm mentally capable of helping vote another Bush or Clinton into the White House.

I'm begging for a real candidate from both sides, yet it appears neither side is interested in offering me a legitimate choice.

Bernie Sanders?

I like Sanders' authenticity but he's too far left for me. He seems like a great guy and we agree on a lot of things but some of his policy gives me pause.

Also, I *really* doubt he wins the nomination.

I realize he's not most everyone's cup of tea here. But … I think he's a real candidate. Finally someone with authenticity as you say. Wellstone was often greeted with the same comments when he started his first campaign for the Senate  … people didn't agree with him, but he was 'real' in a sea of … not so real. Not just a professional politician.

I'll give credit to Sanders for being real.  I'd love to see Sanders and Rand Paul both in the mix more, I feel they may be the only two genuine thinkers in the whole bunch.  (Even if you disagree with particular stances they have)

This is exactly it. I like a guy who's real and honest about what he supports, even if it costs him in "popularity".

Although Bernie has been in politics a long time and could certainly fall in the realm of 'career politician' he still seems to try and fight the fights that need fighting; he hasn't fallen the way most career poli's go … even if he doesn't get all the support. At least with him in the race, he keeps issues relevant. Even if he doesn't get the nomination, he's going to shake things up. If Biden jumps in, it tells me one thing … the Democratic party leadership (Kerry, Ried, etc) are afraid of BOTH Sanders and Clinton for one reason and one reason only … neither one will cowtow to them, neither one will be 'controllable' by them. In the end, and I've said this before, as a woman, I have too much at stake and will never, ever vote for or want a Republican in office to oversee the next Supreme Justice nomination. I will vote Democratic every single time … even if it means Hillary or Sanders … whom I both like, or at least don't hate. But even if it's Biden (barf) I'll vote for him, too. Voting against the current Republican party will always be the way I vote until it changes.

I certainly understand, as a general principle, why women would vote against the Republican Party.  They've done plenty to deserve that.

I would argue, however, that the Supreme Court nominations are a bit overblown.  We had two changes under Bush and it didn't reverse the country in any notable fashion.  In fact, Roberts has proven to be a pretty thoughtful judge most of the time.

The bigger issue is domestic policy and the impact that has and Republicans have demonstrated time and against lately that their platform for fixing the country is just plain stupid.  (The Dems aren't much better, but less appalling)
