Everyone, I imagine, has a team out there they despise. A team that likely has amazing talented players, but a team, never the less, that you just cannot stand. A team you actively root for to fail.

Who is that team for you?

For me, it's ALMOST a toss-up. But it's not.

I hate the White Sox. I almost hate the Yankees that much, but when it comes down to it, I just hate the White Sox and their crummy stadium, and their disgusting fans (and even their attractive clean fans). I like watching Chris Sale pitch, and Jose Abreu hit bombs... but I secretly hope that Chris Sale's arm falls off and that Jose Abreu forgets how to hold a baseball bat. I'd be perfectly content to wake up and read a story about U.S. Cellular field burning to the ground while I drink my morning coffee. "Oh, well, good riddence."

I hate the White Sox.

Good topic.

I hate the Red Sox the most and it's not particularly close.  I hate all the attention ESPN gives them.  Drives me nuts.

Red Sox

Yankees
Cards

After those three, I don't really hate anyone.  I'm rooting against the Astros b/c of how the treated Aiken and I dislike the Cubs on principal.  The Twins/A's used to be a darn good rivalry and I once hated them more than any team but not anymore.

None of the above.  I guess part of being a Braves fan in Twins country is that I didn't develop real baseball disdain, except for the Phillies, but they went and hired a guy from within to bring down their franchise, so it takes the fun away from cheering against them.

For me it's always been the BADgers, even before I was a Gopher

On Showtime there is a series called Shameless, which is situated in Chicago. One of the characters is the father to newborn twins. In one episode, he is watching a baseball game on television, and instructs the young ones on the finer points of team loyalty.

Now, the players in the black and white, they're the White Sox. That's our team.

And the pussies in the gray and blue, they're the Twins.

We hate The Twins.

[Crying]

No, no, no, no, no.

Not the baby girl twins, the player twins.

I don't know if there's any team I hate. There are aspects of certain teams that I hate. White Sox broadcasters are just the worst. Detroit and Milwaukee always seem to have plodding sluggers that are super annoying when you lose to them but are funny when you win. The teams that spend a lot are easy to get mad at but the strategy doesn't work flawlessly so it often becomes 'meh'.

Trying to reduce the overall level of hatred in the universe as much as possible, I'll simply claim dislike for the Yankees and the Cowboys for the same reason: they are touted as representing Americans and neither is a particularly great example.

White Sox, hands down.    Used to bother so many on the Trib pages that we were always losing to the Yankees but I always enjoyed beating the Sox more than I disliked losing to the Yankees.    Kind of odd that I hate them because I really got a  kick out of Ozzie, liked  Crede and Thome when they were White Sox and loved them when they were Twins (Escobar is growing on me as well) and I thought Konerko was awesome.

True, and that's one of the things about the Sux- the team always seems to be less than the sum of the individual parts.

My top 5:

1.  White Sox

2.  White Sox

3.  Yankees

4. White Sox

5. White Sox

That about covers it.

Hm, my top five is similar. It goes something like this:

1. Packers

2. Packers

3. Packers

4. Packers

5. White-Sox-Yankees-Dodgers-Cubs-Red-Sox-PAACKERSSSS.

Assuming there are lots of professed as well as real Wisconsinites on here, I'll tell you now not to waste your breath getting mad at me. I can assure you that you love the Vikings as much as I do, only in a different way.

I view the White Sox as similar rivals as the Packers, Bear, and Blackhawks. For that reason, I dislike them.

The Yankees and Cowboys are hated because they are franchises that are willing to ruin the game to win and believe they have the right to do so. The Dodgers, Angels, Red Sox, and Patriots are are getting up there too. The Angels also nabbed Rod Carew in a forced trade, and the Cowboys not only have the "push off" but also the Walker trade.

The Lakers and Stars are hated because they moved our franchises. That puts them on Psycho's death list.

What about those Giants? I'm pretty sick of them already. It's one thing if you win, but when you rub it in and act like you're the only one who IS winning (though in reality it's only every other year), you've got serious problems.

Like the Packers fans who say, "If you're not first, you're last."

Hmmm. I've got a perfect answer to that. :)

Except that I would replace #3 with the White Sox.  I personally have lost most of my animosity towards the Yankees in recent years.  Can't state strongly enough how much I disdain the tighty whities (as a franchise).

The Ely Brush Puppies (Timber Wolves)! - but I suppose it is time to let go the now distant past (plus most of the old range teams have merged into multi-town teams) - but D&^M those Ely Rats (esp. the hockey team)!.

The White Sox - I have not been happy reading about their upgrades this past off-season and would be happy to see if they did not go as well as they look on paper.  One of the few blessings of the last few years, is that the White Sox have been near or at the cellar as well.

This is why I hate the Yankees.  Exactly why I hate them.

I don't really "hate" the Cubs, I just hope they never win the World Series ever again.  It's a subtle difference.

I can say, I don't like the White Sox.  I really enjoy watching the Twins beat them.  I can't say that I actually hate them though.  I like the rivalry without the hatred.

For me it's the White Sox, though much like many of you, it goes back to the Ozzie and AJ days. I don't know how much hatred there is still left, but I really do like to see them struggle.

Would love to see this rivalry reignited soon!

Not even close - the White Sox.

I hate their announcers.

I hate their stadium.

I hate their fans.

(I especially hate Adam Eaton, don't know why but he really makes my blood boil)

Just like Paul said - I want Chris Sale to suddenly decide that baseball isn't for him and to retire. Perhaps Jose Arbreu could get a really nasty cold and miss the entire season. I don't actively root against any player...until they put on a White Sox uniform.

I HATE that team. When they lose, it brightens my day. When the Twins beat 'em - it's like a double reward.

I don't hate much - I prefer to strongly dislike things - but I certainly hate the White Sox.

Chicago W Sox and the Giants are really the only two teams in the majors I very strongly dislike.

I don't often hate, but when I do, I prefer to hate the Chicago White Sox.  Stay thirsty my friends.

Chicago's three greatest disasters: The Fire, The Flood, The White Sox.

Indians and Braves. Should re-name themselves the Rock Cats and Yard Goats.

?? If you seriously have an issue with Braves as a team name, you'll need to convince actual Native Americans that they're being offended.  There are old logos and other things that should never be brought back, but the team name is certainly far from offensive.  No more than Rangers.
